The 13th Annual Santa Paula High School Student Art Show – Las Medallas De Oro – will open at the California Oil Museum on May 22 and runs until July 24, 2011. The California Oil Museum is at 1001 E. Main Street in Santa Paula. Nearly 100 students’ artworks will be represented from the classes of three art teachers; Ellen Park, Mariann Romero, and Mike Torres. An opening ceremony will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on May 22. At 11:00 am, ribbons and prizes will be given out to top winners in front of dignitaries, families, friends, and guests. The artworks will be judged by esteemed local artists and community leaders. This annual event is a culmination of student efforts throughout the year and a celebration of their accomplishments. Students participate in every step of the preparation for the show including label making, poster designing, matting, hanging, and display, and are supported by the school’s GATE program which provides funding.
