Ojai Community Chorus Spring Concert “An American Patchwork”
By Anonymous — Wednesday, May 4th, 2011
Come and join the Ojai Community Chorus as it explores America’s rich history of music in its Spring Concert, “An American Patchwork.” Led by popular director Connie Woodson, and backed by a live band, the concert offers a fun and exciting program, as ensemble groups and soloists present uniquely American songs in a variety of musical styles. Remember the old western classics that we still love to hear and sing, such as “Cool Water” and “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” patriotic songs such as “America the Beautiful,” and spirituals such as “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho”? You’ll have fun singing along to these and more, and some will even get your toes tapping. Through music, American composers have contributed a rich history of our country’s past, handed down through many generations. Hearing these songs again brings back fond memories of former times. Refreshments will be served following the concert and a bake sale and boutique will also be held. Performances will be held on Saturday, May 21 at 3:00 and 7:00 at the Ojai Presbyterian Church, 304 Foothill Rd. in Ojai. Tickets are available from Angela’s Flowers, chorus members, and at the door. The suggested donation is: general admission, $15; students and seniors 65 and better, $10; children 6 through 11, $5. Children under 5 are admitted free. For more information, call 640-0468. |
