Scifres will share techniques and experiences in producing images of the sky and landscape after dark. Before critiquing club member photos, Scifres have a power point presentation that will cover basic astronomy, equipment, planning your shots, and overcoming problems unique to outdoor after dark photography such as obtaining focus and lighting the foreground. He will show some of his images, and some the equipment he uses to produce them. Scifres has been an enthusiastic amateur photographer for about 8 years, working mostly in landscapes, and more recently nighttime landscapes. He is a former president of the Thousand Oaks Photo Group, has twice won the Ventura County Fair Photography Exhibit's Landscape category, and recently published an e-book on Landscape Astrophotography. He has taught photography at the Calabasas Savvy Senior program and made many presentations at the Thousand Oaks Photo Group.
