Beatrice Louise Webb 1926 - 2009 Graveside Services for Beatrice Louise Webb will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Lane. Reverend Bob Winter will officiate. Bea was born February 22, 1926 in Summers, Arkansas and left to be with the Lord on August 25, 2009. Bea's family moved to Fillmore, California when she was a small child. After attending local schools she married Eugene King in 1941 and had two sons, Ralph and Paul. Sadly, she was widowed at the age of 20. Bea then met and married Jim Webb in 1947 and had another son, Steve. In 1953 the family moved to New Cuyama, California where Jim worked for Richfield and she enjoyed being a housewife. In 1960, the family moved to Bakersfield. After her boys were grown she went to work for JC Penney's and then the Kern County Department of Human Services. Bea retired as a Supervisor from the Department in 1985, after 18 years of service. Nothing was more important to Bea than home and family. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. No one will ever forget her sugar cookies. Her home was beautiful, as was Bea. Her house was always the gathering place for family during the holidays. Bea never had a bad word to say about anyone and was always optimistic. In retirement, she stayed active and was always on the go. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, bingo and attending Bible Study. She was also involved in several organizations including the Woman's Club of Bakersfield, the Kern County Retirees Association, Community House and the USS Enterprise CV-6 Association. On August 25, 2009, after a nine year battle with cancer, Bea passed away peacefully in her sleep. She is preceded in death by her parents, Orvil and Marie Engledow; sister, Peggy Schiffel; and husband, Jim. She will be deeply missed by her survivors who include her sister, Helen Conaway; her sons, Ralph King and wife Janet, Paul King, Steve Webb and wife Sarah; 4 grandchildren, Jason King, Randy King, Paul Wayne King, Jennifer Webb; and 4 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alexis, Julia and Joshua King. The family would like to thank Optimal Hospice and extend a special thank you to Elva Castro with Interim Assisted Living for the exceptional care she gave to our mother in her final days. Visitation was held September 1, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Greenlawn Southwest. Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary
