Carlos P. Gutierrez was born on September 17, 1927 in Coachella, CA.
He passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at the age of 90 a resident of Fillmore and Ventura County resident for over 40 years.
Carlos entered the United States Marine Corp on September 24, 1945 at the age of 18. As a radio operator aboard C130’s he delivered troops and supplies during WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam. During this time he logged thousands of air miles around the world, received numerous service awards and made lifelong friends along the way. One of proudest moments was when he received the Commanding Officers “Leatherneck Marksmanship Award” in 1962. He was honorably discharged in 1965. Retired from the USMC after 20 as a radio operator flying C130’s around the world serving our country he also retired as an electronic engineer from Lockheed Martin. His hobbies were Marine Corps history, aviation, avid reader, sports fan and Papa to a large family.
Carlos is preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sister and his son-in-law.
Carlos is survived by his wife Eneida Gutierrez, daughter Shelly Rosenblad of Fillmore, CA, son Mike Gutierrez (spouse Stella) of Lancaster, CA, daughter Cindy Zanotti (spouse Tom) of Eagle Point, OR,
son Greg Gutierrez of Palmdale, CA, son Steve Gutierrez (spouse Barb) of Lancaster, CA,
15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A rosary for will be held Friday, May 18, 2018; 9:30am at St Francis of Assisi Church 1048 Ventura St., Fillmore CA,
Funeral mass will be held Friday, May 18, 2018; 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Church with a reception to follow also at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11am at Bardsdale Cemetery 1698 S. Sespe St., Fillmore, CA.
