By Anonymous — Tuesday, April 10th, 2012
Spring and summer is going to be a joyous and busy time at the Bardsdale United Methodist Church so we invite you to mark your calendars and join us for all or some of these events. On Sunday, April 22, at 3 PM, Fillmore High graduate, Dr. Grey Brothers, will bring an ensemble of singers from Westmont College to present a musical program that's sure to please all who attend. Dr. Brothers is the son of John and Myrt Brothers, long-time former teachers in Fillmore. The following Saturday, April 28, will be the popular spring Courtyard Sale from 8 until noon. Shoppers will be amazed at the variety of bargains they find inside and out. Proceeds benefit the ministries of the United Methodist Women. Returning for its second year is the Mother's Day Tea and Fashion Show put on by the ladies and friends of Bardsdale Church. Attendees will enjoy a variety of teas, scones and sandwiches while viewing a show of fashions rescued from the previous Courtyard Sale. The date is May 12 at 2 PM in LeBard Hall. This year marks the 120 Anniversary of the Bardsdale United Methodist Church. Celebrations will take place over the first two weekends in June. On June 3, Santa Barbara District Superintendent, Katie Coots, as well as former pastors will lead the worship. Mary Ann Swenson, Bishop of the California-Pacific Conference, will be the guest speaker at the June 10 service. Being planned are tours of the church and displays commemorating 120 years of worship in the community. Being good Methodists, there will probably be food as well. Watch the Gazette for more information. Vacation Bible School will be July 16-20. This year's offering, Operation Overboard- Dare To Go Deep With God, will have Bible story time, craft projects, science activities, mission stories and music. Over eighty youngsters had a blast last year. One event that takes place every Friday morning at 9:30 AM in LeBard Hall is Children's Story Time. Young ones and their parents (or grandparents) hear stories and participate in crafts until about 11 AM. Good things are happening at the Bardsdale Church as it grows in its ministry. Please come and enjoy. Call the church at 524-2070 for more information on any of these events. The church is located at 1498 Bardsdale Avenue. |
