Fillmore Photographer Wins Top Honors at Fair

Carmelita Miranda of KSSP Photographic Studios in Fillmore has earned the Best in Show, Professional Division, at the Ventura County Fair with a black and white portrait featuring former Fillmore High School senior Christian Conaway. Carmelita's portrait of Christian also won 1st place in Black and White. Her portrait of former FHS senior Claire Faith won 1st place in Portrait. Both portraits were taken as part of their senior pictures. Carmelita's landscape image “Wrapped Trees” won second place in Agriculture Charles Morris, also of KSSP, won 2nd place in Portraits with his portrait of current FHS senior Melissa Hernandez and her guitar. After a number of years where professionals were not permitted to enter their work at the fair because of space limitations, this year one entry per category was permitted. Both amateur and professionals pictures can be viewed in the photography pavilion at the Fair through August 14. Principal photographers at KSSP are Carmelita Miranda and Charles Morris. KSSP is a full service photography studio specializing in portraits and weddings.
