The suggested donation is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children and students. This non-profit museum is a National Historic Landmark where the early Californio lifestyle is preserved in its original rural environment. What began as part of the 48,000 acre Mexican land grant, Rancho San Francisco, deeded to Antonio del Valle in 1839 is still a 1,800-acre working ranch. Rancho Camulos was also a setting for "Ramona," an 1884 novel by Helen Hunt Jackson that generated national interest. The museum is a portion of the ranch containing an 1853 adobe, cocina, chapel, schoolhouse, and beautiful grounds. There is a museum gift shop.
