Jason A. VanderPal will speak at the Rotary Sun Risers October 6th meeting. Mr. VanderPal has spoken to several organizations throughout Los Angeles and recently spoke for over 8,000 sales people at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

His presentation talks about leadership. Specifically: improving your public speaking skills. He says "am one of the lucky individuals to have been taught a very unique and prestigious system of public speaking called the Bill Gove System."

Bill Gove is considered to be the father of the professional speaking industry primarily because of his 60-year track record training the most mega-successful speakers in the business. (Zig Ziglar, Bob Proctor from “The Secret”, Mark Victor Hansen, author “Chicken Soup for the Soul”, just to name a few) These speakers earn thousands of dollars per hour to speak and they all use Bill’s system.

My presentation will teach some of the techniques from Bill’s system as well as incorporate some stories from my time managing the biggest music store in the world (Guitar Center, Hollywood). *

Here’s what others are saying about Jason’s presentation: “Jason is the most confident, relaxed and well prepared speaker we have ever had.” David Carletta, President, Burbank Sunrise Rotary Club: “Great speaker, engaged the group, very delightful lunch speech. Good information for all.” Kathy Hayworth, President, Culver City Rotary Club: “Great speaker!” Craig D. Carter, Past Lt. Gov. Speaker Chairman, Northridge Kiwanis.
Rotary Sun Risers meet at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday mornings at El Pescador.

We welcome visitors to our weekly programs.

encourage women to do self-exams; offer discounts to local women who receive mammograms or support cause

Fillmore, CA - The probability of a woman being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer during her life is about one in eight. And, the probability of dying from breast cancer is about one in 35, according to the American Cancer Society. Breast cancer death rates are going down, the Association says, which is probably a result of finding the cancer earlier and receiving improved treatment.

That is why Curves' locations, including the ones in the Fillmore area, are encouraging women to get annual mammograms and perform monthly breast self-exams during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.
Women who bring in a mammogram, performed within the last year, or make a
$25 donation to the American Cancer Society will be waived from paying a service fee when they join Curves during one of the last three weeks of October. Also, participating Curves locations will make available a unique home breast self-exam kit called the Liv Aid, which makes the breast self-exam process more sensitive for detecting unusual lumps. For every Liv Aid kit sold, Curves will donate one to another woman who can't afford one.

"Breast cancer is by far the most common cancer among women worldwide, and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a perfect opportunity for us to emphasize ways of prevention," says Curves founder Diane Heavin. "Not only are we rewarding women for having mammograms and encouraging them to perform CONTINUED »

Part of VC Resource Conservation District Education Program

SANTA PAULA, CALIF.--Limoneira Company and Agromin have teamed up with the Ventura County Resource Conservation District (VCRCD) to donate 183 "Carrots for Kids" seed growing kits to third and fourth graders in the Santa Paula Elementary School District. The carrot kit distribution is part of the VCRCD's efforts to educate local schoolchildren about the value of agriculture and growing their own food.

"All the kids have been highly involved and enthusiastic about the topic," says Mary Maranville, environmental education outreach coordinator for VCRCD. "Kids love learning about agriculture, gardening and details about fruits and vegetables. Handing out the carrot kits is a lovely way to end the presentation."

"Even in a community such as Santa Paula with its rich agricultural history, many young students don't make the connection between the acres of farmland around them and the food on their table," says Harold Edwards, president and CEO of Santa Paula-headquartered Limoneira Company and one of the country's largest citrus and avocado producers. "The VCRCD is helping make that CONTINUED »

On September 16, 2009, at approximately 2:49 p.m. The Santa Paula Police Department received a 9-1-1 call of a plane crash east of the Santa Paula Airport.

Upon arrival, officers were told the plane was last seen hitting the thick brush in the area of the river bottom, located south of the Santa Paula Airport. Officers and firefighters began checking the area for the plane. Due to the large search area and tall, thick brush, a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department rescue helicopter was dispatched to assist in the search.

Emergency crews were able to quickly locate the plane, which had flipped over during the crash landing. The female pilot was the sole occupant in the plane. She received minor injuries as a result of the crash however, she declined medical treatment at the scene.

Due to this incident being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration, the pilot’s identity will not be released at this time. At the time of this press release, F.A.A. officials are still on scene investigating.

On September 5th, at approximately 7 p.m. our cat Duma was stolen from the front of our house in Moorpark. We live in the shanadoah community in Moorpark Ca, this is a upscale and gated neighborhood. On 9/11/2009 we received a phone call from a gentlemen by the name of Alex, a station manager of the USA Gas station in Fillmore, its located on the corner of A Street and Ventura HWY 126. Alex informed us that he found our cats tag in his flower pot out front of his gas station, not only is this cat loved by my family and in my eyes a loss my young children will never get over! this is an extremely unique cat that has been cross bread with Bengal cats to produce what is to be considered the most beautiful domestic! Duma has some distinct markings such as a scar on her stomach from a surgery, Also we took it upon ourselves to insert a chip to monitor her if such a problem were to arise! That chip number is 49192B7B74

I have three little girls and they are absolutely heart broken, Not to mention my wife and I feel like a family member has been stolen.
