David Ray Jackson (1938-2021)

Peacefully and surrounded by his wife and close family, David Ray Jackson of Fillmore, California passed away on August 27, 2021 at the age of 82.
David was born on September 11, 1938 in Fillmore, California, to Carl Newton and Stella Pauline (Millsap) Jackson in Fillmore, California.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 16 years, Claudia; his children: Cindy Jackson and Dennis (Mary K) Jackson; step-children: Shelly (Ed) Barr, Kelly (Michael) Conour, Nadine (Tim) Knowles, Susie (Robert) Johnson, Devon Sullivan, Patricia (Dennis) Mead and Christopher (Jennifer) Noe; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly called him Poppers; sisters: Elain Lewis Jackson and Carlene Welchel and close friend Monte (Betty) Carpenter.
He will also be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters in Christ and friends at the Santa Paula Freewill Baptist Church, where he humbly served as a Deacon.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anita Darlene Jackson; step-daughter, Laura Jane Noe and sister, Pauline.
He lived with his family in Piru, on his grandfather's farm until 1943. After graduating High School in 1957, David joined the U. S. Army. He took Basic Training at Fort Ord and was sent to Anchorage, Alaska for 28 months. In April of 1961 he was released from active duty and returned home. In October of the same year, he was recalled to Active Duty in Fort Lewis, Washingon. He was released in July 1962. He had a thirty year career with the County of Ventura and went on to enjoy retirement for another thirty plus years.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bardsdale Cemetery, 1698 S. Sespe Street, Fillmore, California.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 11:00am at the Santa Paula Freewill Baptist Church, 406 Acacia Road, Santa Paula, California.
Memorial Donations may be made in the name of David Ray Jackson to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607
