Don Berrington passed away unexpectedly at the age of 66 on September 2, 2010 at the family ranch home in Fillmore.
He was born on December 9, 1943 on the family ranch in Fillmore, and was a resident of Ventura County for his entire life, with the exception of when the family lived in Wilton, California between 1976 and 1982. The Berrington family has been ranching in Fillmore for over 100 years.
Don worked as a self-employed pipeline welder until 1992 and then worked on the family ranch until the time of his death.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and being in the orchard. His hobbies included World War II and western history, old tractors and his Model A truck.
He is survived by his children: Mike Berrington and wife Stephanie of Spanish Springs, NV, Jeff Berrington and wife Denise of Fillmore, Melissa (Berrington) Bowen and husband Mark of Fillmore, and Don, Jr. Berrington and wife Shana of Idaho Falls, ID; his mother Ethel (Everson) Berrington of Fillmore; his brother Robert Berrington and wife Cheryl of Fillmore; and his grandchildren: Cameron, Niki, Zane, Breanna, Bethany, Gavin, Erin, Noah, Kiera-Ashley and Joel, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Suzanne (Orm) Berrington and his father, Albert Berrington.
Internment will be Bardsdale Cemetery on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. At Don’s request, graveside services were performed.
Memorial donations may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.
