A security guard. This was a man who was put in a position of trust, and who was assumed to be someone who supported the presence of American doctors in Afghanistan, and wanted to protect them from jihadists. Instead, he turned out to be a jihadist himself. Yet when I have stated the quite obvious truth that there is no distinction between peaceful Muslims and violent jihadis, i.e., peaceful Muslims have not pronounced them non-Muslims and put them out of mosques and Islamic authorities have not declared that those who believe in the Islam of al Qaeda and other groups like it is not a Muslim, I’m smeared as a “bigot” and an “Islamophobe.” Perhaps those who hired this security guard could explain to us exactly what that distinction consists of.

The U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan confirmed Thursday that three American doctors — including a father and son — were killed by an Afghan security guard who opened fire at a Kabul hospital.

“With great sadness we confirm that three Americans were killed in the attack at CURE Hospital,” said a statement posted on the Embassy’s Twitter page. “No other information will be released at this time.”
