PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: August 20, 1964 - As part of his Great Society policies, Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Economic Opportunity Act which, among other things, established the Head Start program.

ATHLETICS:
1. GIRLS GOLF - All girls wishing to try-out for Girls Golf, there will be a meeting on Wednesday after school at Elkins Golf Course.
2. ATHLETES: Remember you are not allowed to participate in any FALL SPORT until you have been CLEARED and your TRANSPORTATION FEES have been paid.

CLUBS:
1. Prayer Club meets tomorrow at lunch in Room 2. All are welcome!
2. Hiking Club: Want to get out and try something new and exciting? Join the hiking club! All are welcome to attend. First meeting this Thursday 8/21 at lunch in Rm. 59.
3. Attention all clubs and class presidents – Please report to Nada ASAP to receive your receipt book for the 2008-09 year.

JUNIORS & SENIORS:
1. Juniors & Seniors who are employed – earn 10 credits. “NO HOMEWORK”. Sign up for Diversified Occupations – Work Experience class. Attend class 1 day per week on Tuesday. You can attend the 12:30 – 3:00 class or the 3:00 – 5:30 class. See your counselor for details.
2. Still haven’t ordered your Class Ring? Jostens will be here on Wednesday, August 27th to go over information regarding upcoming orders.

FRESHMEN:
1. Any freshmen interested in ASB, please speak to Lynn in the Student Store. There are 3 spots available.

STUDENTS:
1. ID’S - Students that took their ID Pictures on the first day of school can pick up their ID card at the Student Store. Students still in need of ID’s - Lynn should be receiving her new ID Equipment early next week. Sorry for the inconvenience.
2. ASB STICKER & YEAR BOOKS – Unfortunately we are not longer able to honor the “Registration Special”. ASB Stickers will be sold for $25.00 and Yearbooks will be sold for $80.00.
3. BOOKCOVERS - Just a reminder that Book Covers are sold in the Student Store for $1.00.
4. The English department decided no AR books are to be checked out until classes have taken the STAR reading test. Please do not try to check out AR books until your English teacher gives you the go-ahead.
5. Our Back to School Rally is Friday! Show you class spirit by wearing your class color. Seniors – Black; Juniors – White; Sophomores – Blue; Freshmen – Green.

STUDENTS & STAFF:
1. Beginning Wednesday, the administrators will be conducting TARDY SWEEPS and DRESS CODE SWEEPS. Please do your share by arriving to class on time and by dressing appropriately for school. Thank you.
2. We are working with the district to adjust the bus schedules so that students will arrive to school on time. Please be patient.
3. The library will start opening during lunchtime on Thursday, Aug 21st. Please remember students can not check out AR books though until their class has come in to take the Star Reading test. More info will follow from English teachers.

STAFF:
1. Welcome Back Rally this Friday. Please check the Assembly/Rally Supervision notice handed out at our first staff day.
2. Jostens will be here on Wednesday, August 27th to go over information with Juniors & Seniors regarding Class Rings. They will speak to students in US History Classes, Economic Classes and US Government Classes.
