PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: February 9, 1861 - Jefferson Davis was chosen as the president of the Confederate States of America.
LUNCH: Chicken noodle soup, baked cheese sandwich, coleslaw, fresh fruit.
ATHLETICS:
1. BOYS BASKETBALL - AWAY @ ST. BONAVENTURE. FROSH/SOPH Game begins at 4PM, JV Game begins at 5:30PM, Varsity
follows at 7PM. FROSH/SOPH ONLY is excused from class at 2;15PM to depart FHS at 2:30PM. JV and Varsity see Coach Stockton &
Sebek for departure times.
2. BOYS SOCCER - AWAY @ MALIBU. JV and Varsity both play at 3:15PM. Team is excused at 12:45PM to depart at 1PM.
3. Girls Basketball - Team and individual pictures - Wednesday, February 9 @ 3:30pm.
CLUBS:
1. Dead Poet’s Club – meeting TODAY at lunch in the Drama room.
2. MENTOR PROGRAM: San Cayetano mentoring today after school meet in Rm 17.
MENTOR PROGRAM: All mentors are invited to the Oxnard Farm 2/12 from 9-11am. FIDM Runway show #/17 @ 5:30pm -all permission
slips in Rm 17.
3. FHS Ambassador Club will meet Thursday at lunch in Room 61.
4. Anime Club meets on Mondays and Thursdays at lunch in the Art Room. New members are welcome.
SENIORS:
1. There will be a FAFSA workshop on Thursday, February 24th, at the library at 6:30 p.m. Please bring the following with you: social security
numbers, W-2 forms, last paycheck stub of the year, and 2009 or 2010 income taxes. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Larin
during lunch.

• FILLMORE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION – applications are in the College and Career Center. They are to be returned to the alumni office by
3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 25th.
• Soroptimist International of Fillmore, Imogene Vest Scholarship - students who have a 3.0 GPA or higher, able to demonstrate you are
actively working to make your community a better place, and attending a higher education institution in the fall of 2011 immediately following
graduation. Students must also be a student in the Fillmore Unified School District and be a U.S. citizens or permanent residents to apply.
Deadline is March 22nd. See Mrs. Larin for an application.

SOPHOMORES:
1. CLASS MEETING during lunch TODAY in Mr. MacMahon’s room #54 to discuss fundraisers. It won’t be a long meeting, so get there early.
Bring your ideas for fundraisers!
STUDENTS:
1. Saturday School will be held this Saturday 2/12/2011.
2. SADIE HAWKINS DANCE - March 5th. Ladies, get ready and ask your date! This year’s theme is Mardi Gras, so get your beads ready!
3. Pennies for Patients fundraising drive – Bring your pennies (or any coins) to your 3rd period classroom. The class that raises the most
money will receive a BBQ lunch put on by the Sheriff and Fire departments
4. Get your stories and poems together and enter the Soroptimist Writing Contest. 1st place receives $50, 2nd place $35, and 3rd place
$25. Please submit all writing entries to Mr. Bauer, Rm. 32, no later than Friday, Feb. 18. There will also be an awards dinner for the
winners. Good luck and good writing!
5. EXTRA CREDIT/MAKE-UP RUNS – Every Wednesday. Report to the track by 3:25.
6. This years’ Ventura County Fair Poster contest theme is “The Bounty of the County”. Entries must be original 2-D works of art on 14” x 17”
paper. There is a $10 entry fee. All valid entries will receive a Ventura County Fair participation ribbon and 2 admission tickets to the 2011
VC fair. Awards- 1st place $500, 2nd place $250 3rd place $100. The deadline is Thursday March 31st. For an entry form or more
information come by room 34 (Art room)
• Freshmen are selling VALENTINE BRACELETS - $1.00.
• Art Club is selling Valentine grams in the quad at lunch and in Room 34 (art room) during break. $1 for a valentine card and a
sweet or sour lip pop or $2 for a card, lollipop and small stuffed animal. Hurry and buy yours today- sale ends Thursday and delivery
will be Friday during Period 4.
• AVID Club is selling Valentine’s Chocolate roses every day at lunch in the quad. It’s the perfect gift for that special someone! Roses
are 2 for $1, $3 for half dozen and $6 for a dozen. All roses will be delivered on Feb. 10th/11th to your first period class.
