PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: February
CONGRATULATIONS TO FHS PEP SQUAD. Novice Team received 2nd Place and our Advanced Squad is the
NATIONAL CHAMPION!!! WAY TO GO FLASHES!!!
LUNCH: Orange chicken, rice, broccoli, fresh fruit, fortune cookie
ATHLETICS:
1. FOOTBALL PLAYERS - If you ordered Football DVD’s they are available for pick-up in the Student Store.
2. SPRING ATHLETES - Spring Practices have started……Make sure you get your Athletic Clearances to Lynn in the Student Store.
3. Boys’ Golf – practice will start on Tuesday, 2/22 at 3:45 at Elkins. Coach Dollar must have the “BLUE” clearance sheet before you can
practice!
CLUBS:
1. Art Club - meeting on Tuesday at lunch in the art room.
2. Prayer Club meets Tuesday at lunch in room 2. Come join us!
3. FHS Ambassador Club – meeting Thursday at lunch in Mrs. Sebek’s room #61
SENIORS:
1. There are TWO (2) FAFSA workshops available for you:
• Wednesday, Feb. 23rd - Library from 6:00pm to 8:00pm sponsored by CSUCI TRIO program. Contact: Haida Jimenez CSUCI TRIO –

• Thursday, Feb. 24th – 6:30 in the Library. Bring: social security numbers, w-2 forms, last paycheck stub of the year and 2009 or 2010
income taxes. See Mrs. Larin if you have any questions.

• FILLMORE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION – applications are in the College and Career Center. They are to be returned to the alumni office by
3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 25th.
• Soroptimist International of Fillmore, Imogene Vest Scholarship - students who have a 3.0 GPA or higher, able to demonstrate you are
actively working to make your community a better place, and attending a higher education institution in the fall of 2011 immediately following
graduation. Deadline is March 22nd. See Mrs. Larin for an application.
• Rotary Club of Fillmore Sun Risers - seniors who reside within Fillmore Unified School District. Deadline is April 1st. See Mrs. Larin for
an application.
• California Strawberry Commission - http://www.californiastrawberries.com/. Deadline is March 1st.

JUNIORS:
1. Do you need help preparing for SAT’s? Come by and pre-register in the College and Career Center if you are interested. Free SAT prep
workshops will be held in room 49 on the following days: 2/22/11 – Verbal; 2/23/11 – Math; 2/24/11 - Writing
STUDENTS:
1. POWDER PUFF PRACTICE begins today. Juniors practice 5-7PM, Seniors from 7-9PM. Medical Authorizations must be turned-in in
order to participate.
2. EXTRA CREDIT/MAKE-UP RUNS – Every Wednesday. Report to the track by 3:25.
3. GIRLS: Applications are available in the Student Store for the Miss Fillmore/ Miss Teen Fillmore Pageant. The Mother/Daughter Tea is
Wed., Feb. 23rd 6:30PM at the Memorial Building. The first practice begins Wed., March 2nd.
4. This years’ Ventura County Fair Poster contest theme is “The Bounty of the County”. Entries must be original 2-D works of art on 14” x
17” paper. There is a $10 entry fee. All valid entries will receive a Ventura County Fair participation ribbon and 2 admission tickets to the
2011 VC fair. Awards- 1st place $500, 2nd place $250 3rd place $100. The deadline is Thursday March 31st. For an entry form or more
information come by room 34 (Art room)
5. Higher Ed Week II is coming to Fillmore High School on the evening of Tuesday, March 1st, in the high school gym. Speak with college
representatives from UC’s, CSU’s, Private Universities, Community Colleges, and trade schools. Bring the family! Win an IPOD!
6. Yearbook info - You may order personalization for your yearbook for only $5. Have your name and/or icons on the cover of your yearbook
and help prevent loss/theft. Order forms are available in the Student Store. Deadline: February 28th at 3:15.
STUDENTS & STAFF:
1. The Sophomore class is having a portrait fundraiser in cooperation with KSSP on Feb. 26th. If you are interested in having a family portrait
taken, pick up a flyer in the Student Store or any Sophomore class officer. This is a great opportunity for a family portrait!
