PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: March 22, 1765 - The Stamp Act was enacted on the American colonies by Britain.
LUNCH: Enchilada casserole, Spanish rice, salad, fresh fruit.
Congratulations to the following for running the 2011 LA Marathon in what the LA Times declared "the stormiest day in LA Marathon history":
Vincent Chavez, Alexander Frias, Nicolas Frias, Isaac Gomez, Sammy Martinez, Anthony Rivas, Jovani (Geo) Rubio, and Carina Silva.
ATHLETICS:
1. SOFTBALL - JV and Varsity Games begin at 3:30PM. Softball Girls are excused from class at 2PM and are to report to the field.
2. LETTERMAN JACKETS - Dagen Sales will be here on Tuesday, March 22nd at lunch to take orders. A $50.00 deposit is required at the time
of the order.
3. PATCHES - Athletes if you would like to order patches for your jacket, please see Lynn in the Student Store.
4. Girls Basketball Team is selling See’s Candy until April 4th. See Coach Tafoya or any team member if you would like to order candy for
Easter.
5. The following Spring Sports Teams will be photographed: Track - Wednesday, March 23, 2:45pm
CLUBS:
1. Anime Club meeting Today (Monday) and Thursday in the art room at lunch. New members are welcome.
2. Art Club meeting on Tuesday at lunch in the art room. New members are welcome. Bring your drawings and paintings for the arts show to
Room 34. The show is just 3 Weeks away! Everyone come – the YEARBOOK PICTURE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN AGAIN.
3. Prayer Club – meets Tuesday at lunch in room 2. We welcome everyone!
4. MENTOR PROGRAM: Tuesday Mtn. Vista mentoring after school meet in Rm 17 by 3:15pm.
5. Dead Poets Club - Meeting Wednesday at lunch in the drama room. Art show poems are due. YEARBOOK PICTURE will be re-taken.
SENIORS:
1. If you want pictures in the Senior Slide Show start turning them in to Ms. Schieferle or Lynn in the Student Store.
2. Off Campus info – if you have tardies/absences that need to be cleared before you can leave for lunch, your parent must call the school by
11:00, or you will have to wait until the following day to leave campus at lunch.
3. Grad Nite Live – There will be a meeting on Wednesday at 4:00 at the Double A Café for all students participating in fundraisers. THEY WILL
HAVE A NACHO BAR for you! Turn in your money and/or tickets for the Central Station or the Attractions Spa fundraisers. The next
fundraiser will be See’s Candy.

• Soroptimist International of Fillmore, Imogene Vest Scholarship - Deadline is March 22nd.
• Rotary Club of Fillmore Sun Risers - Deadline is April 1st.
• Rotary Club of Fillmore-Noontime - Deadline is April 1st.
• Piru Petroleum - Deadline is April 1st.
• Fillmore Women’s Service Club - Deadline is April 6th.
• Mario and Rosaria Contini Scholarship - students who have a 2.5 GPA or higher, preferably the student, or at least one of his/her parents must have
immigrated to the U.S. Deadline is April 15th. See Mrs. Larin for an application.\
• Henry Mayo Newhall Scholarship - students who are planning to attend a four year university. See Mrs. Larin for an application. Deadline is April 15th.
STUDENTS:
1. The yearbook staff wants to cover Spring Break in this year’s yearbook. Submit your pictures to Mrs. Casanave in room 38 (room 54 6th
period).
2. If you are interested in participating in the FHS Talent Show stop by the Student Store to pick up an audition form. Turn it in by April
13th to Mr. Overton or Barbara Lemons.
3. EXTRA CREDIT/MAKE-UP RUNS – Every Wednesday. Report to the track by 3:25.
4. The Arts Show is scheduled for April 12th. If you have artwork that you would like to exhibit in the show, please bring it/them to Ms. M (room
34) after Spring Break.
5. FFA Blood Drive – Thursday March 31st. If you are 16 years of age or older you may donate. Permission slips are in the Health Office. Must
be turned in by Friday 3/25.
6. The Fillmore Aquatic Center will be having classes for anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard or swim instructor on April 1- April 3 and
April 8- April 10. The cost of the class is $150.00 and does cover materials. You may sign up and pay for the class at Fillmore City Hall.
7. Students in Night School, you must attend and turn in work on a regular basis. Finish the course you are taking ASAP. We do not know how
much longer the program will exist. If you have any questions, please see your counselor or the Night School teachers.
8. The Grizzly Youth Academy, FREE to male and female students, ages 16 through 18½, is NOW accepting student applications for the mid-
July, Fall Semester. Are you behind in credits, have a low G.P.A or want to get away from negative influences. Students must turn in a
completed STUDENT APPLICATION and MENTOR APPLICATION, schedule interview and take a tour at Grizzly. See Norma Pérez-
Sandford, Counselor, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Last weekend tour dates: Sunday, April 17 - 11:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 15 -
11:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. This is also the deadline for Fall applications. MAKE THE CHANGE NOW.
