PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: April 1, 1970 - President Nixon signed a bill into law banning cigarette ads
from radio and television.
LUNCH: Tuna Sandwich, lettuce/tomato, potato chips, fresh fruit.
ATHLETICS:
1. BASEBALL - HOME w/BISHOP DIEGO. JV and Varsity Games begin at 3:30PM. Baseball
teams are excused from class at 2:15PM.
CLUBS:
1. Flashes Go Green Clean-up – FRIDAY after school in the quad. Help clean up the campus and
enjoy some FREE food!
2. The M.E.Ch.A Club invites all ladies to sign up to run for the Cinco de Mayo court. Sign up in Rm.
45 (Ms. Juarez) before school, tutorial or at lunch. Interviews will be April 11 - 14. (date change)
3. Migrant Debate team – Yearbook picture will be taken on Monday at lunch in Rm. 39 (Fitzpatrick). The following need to be there: Itzelle
Iniguez, Jesus Alvarado and Juan Carlos Mendoza.
4. One Step Center: Interested in making a difference in our community?? Become an advocate for Social Justice!!! Join a Social Justice
Committee at the One Step a la Vez Center. We meet weekly to address some of our communities compelling issues and take action!!!
Committees include Transportation, Diversity Club, and Toxic Super Fund. For more information, attend our special lunch time meeting on
Monday, April 4, 2011 at Room 49. Mentors are strongly advised to attend.
SENIORS:
1. Graduation Announcements will be handed out on Friday, April 15th during lunch. You will be receiving a postcard from Josten’s with your
balance at the beginning of April. You can only pay with Cash, Debit or Credit card…NO CHECKS. If you have questions see Ms. Sheff or
Lynn.

SOPHMORES:
1. CLASS RINGS - Jostens will be here Wednesday, April 6th and Thursday, April 7th during break and lunch to take orders for class rings.
STUDENTS:
1. FHS Talent Show- pick up an audition form in the Student Store. Turn it in by April 13th to Mr. Overton or Barbara Lemons. TEACHERS –
You’re invited to participate also! Who knows, you might be discovered!
2. The Arts Show is scheduled for April 12th. If you have artwork that you would like to exhibit in the show, please bring it/them to Rm. 34
3. Thinking of going to Prom? Sure you are! Don’t miss out! Do your homework, ask questions in class and get whatever help you need
because you must have minimum of a 2.0 GPA by the 4th qtr Progress Report to go to Prom and all detentions cleared up and no
truancies etc., You are needed at Prom so get busy getting the GPA up, be good and be at school! :) Prom tickets will go on sale
on April 27.
4. The Fillmore Aquatic Center will be having class's for anyone interested in becoming a lifeguard or swim instructor. The dates for the
lifeguard class are: April 1- April 3 and April 8- April 10. This is just ONE class that covers both of the mentioned weekends, Friday, Sat.
and Sun. The cost of the class is $150.00 and does cover materials. You may sign up and pay for the class at Fillmore City Hall. The dates
for the Water Safety Instruction (swim instructor) class are April 15 - April 17 and April 29 - May 1. This also is just ONE class that covers two
weekends Friday, Sat. and Sun. The cost of this class is $150.00 and does cover materials. Sign up and payment are also at Fillmore City
Hall.
5. TRIO – ETS (CSUCI) is offering its Sophomore and Junior student participants the opportunity to take part in a College Road Trip to San
Diego 2011 FREE OF CHARGE. Students who participate will have the opportunity to stay in the dormitories of Cal State San Diego for 3
days, and it will include meals, board, transportation, entrance to the San Diego Museum of Art, etc. The trip will be Wednesday June 15th –
Friday June 17th in San Diego. Please, see either Mrs. Ashim or Mrs. Sandford if you need an extra copy of the College Road Trip Application
or Parent Brochure. Remember to please turn it in before the scheduled deadline of Friday April 8th to either one of the 2 Counselors.

6. The API Celebration is April 21st. If you want to perform or know someone who does, sign up in the Student Store. All bands are welcome!
Teachers/Staff & non-FHS students are included. Hurry & sign up. 1st come, 1st served. Limited spots available.
7. LOST – BLUE Nano video recorder IPOD. There is a $100 reward for its return. See Mrs. Lemons for more info.
