PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: May 3, 1948 - The Shelley v. Kraemer Supreme Court decision stated that it is unconstitutional for a court to
enforce a restrictive covenant which prevents people of a certain race from owning or occupying property.
LUNCH: Chili con Carne, cornbread muffin, coleslaw, fresh fruit
Congratulations to the Fillmore High School Speech and Debate Team. They won 2nd Place in the regional finals! Members are senior Kelli
Magaña and juniors Linda Alvarado, Neira Hernandez, Itzelle Iniguez, and Daniela Rosales. In the Speech competition, freshmen Banely
Arevalo and Daniela Valdovinos won 1st and 2nd place, respectively, in both the prepared speech and extemporaneous speech. As the 1st
place winner, Banely moves on to the State Competition on May 14 in Ventura. The team thanks Mr. Wilber and Mrs. Ibarra for their support.
ATHLETICS:
1. VARSITY SOFTBALL - HOME w/GRACE BRETHREN. Varsity game begins at 3:30PM. Team is excused from class at 2:15PM.
2. JV SOFTBALL - HOME w/CARPINTERIA. JVarsity game begins at 3:30PM. Team is excused from class at 2:15PM.
3. BOYS VOLLEYBALL - HOME w/MALIBU. JV Match begins at 5PM, Varsity follows.
4. BOYS GOLF – AWAY @ BISHOP DIEGO. Golfers are excused from class at 10:15AM to depart at 10:20AM.
5. JV and VARSITY football - A there will be a mandatory meeting at lunch Wednesday, May 4th in the gym for all those interested in playing
football
6. ATHLETES - In order for you to participate and practice during the summer for ANY SPORT/PEP SQUAD you must have a current physical
on file with the Athletic Department. “FREE” physicals will be given starting Monday, May 2nd, however you must see Mrs. Dewey in the
Health Office to set-up an appointment and complete the required paperwork. If you wish to get a physical from your own personal doctor,
please see Lynn in the Student Store for a current physical form. Once completed ALL PHYSCIALS are required to be returned to Mrs.
Dewey in the Health Office.
7. ATHLETIC PARENTS – FHS Athletic Booster Club will be having elections for the 2011-2012 School Year. If you are interested in joining the
Board or just volunteering…ALL ARE WELCOME - Monday, May 9th – 7PM, in Room 1
8. Football Players – Because of the large amount of football players, separate arrangements have been made for them to get their physicals
from 10:00 – 2:00 on May 7th at Dr. Hakansson’s office (533 Sespe Ave.). Players must pick up physical paperwork and clearance packet
from Lynn Cole in the Student Store before that date.
CLUBS:
1. PRAYER CLUB – meeting TODAY at lunch in RM. 2
2. Dead Poet’s Club – meeting Wednesday at lunch in the drama room.
3. Flashes Go Green – last monthly clean-up of the year this Friday after school in the quad. Please come help clean the campus and receive
free snacks and community service.
4. All Clubs – the 2nd Annual Make-A-Wish, Kids for Wish Kids Walk-a-thon is quickly approaching and ASB is looking for clubs to sponsor fun
activities the day of the event. All proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish. Anyone interested should contact ASB member, Kianna Tarango at

SENIORS:
1. Seniors taking PASS Saturday class: your last day of class will be sat. May 21st. Your print out with your final grade needs to be turned in to
Mrs. Ashim Mon. May 23rd.
2. Please remember that your attendance needs to be cleared by 11am daily if you want to leave campus at lunch!! That means any notes,
AWOLS, detentions or parent phone calls need to be done early. Mrs. Piña has to have her daily lunch list done before 11:30a.
3. DISNEYLAND TRIP - MONEY IS DUE FRIDAY, MAY 6TH!!!! This year’s cost to go on the Disneyland Trip is $57.00. Slips are available in
the Student Store and must be completed prior to the trip.

STUDENTS & STAFF:
1. TUTORIAL SWITCH – On Tuesday, May 3rd we will make the tutorial switch. New stickers will be passed out during tutorial in the gym for
students who qualify. Class lists will be posted on the Attendance Office windows and by Mr. Quiroz’s room #58.
STUDENTS:
1. Come celebrate 5 de mayo in the west wing quad by Mrs. Juarez’s room #45. Dress up day on Thursday, May 5th. The 3rd period class with
the most participants will get pizza on Monday, May 9th!
2. EXTRA CREDIT/MAKE-UP RUNS – Every Wednesday. Report to the track by 3:25.
Prom Information:
1. Prom tickets - on sale - at lunch in the Student Store. If you plan to bring a date that is not a current student at Fillmore High School, you must
get a GUEST PASS at the Student Store. Guest Passes must be complete before you will be sold a ticket. Cost is $45/single or $90/couple.
Prices will go up to $50/$100 on May 9th. The prom will be on May 14th at the Museum of Ventura County (100 E. Main St., Ventura) from 8:00
– midnight.
