PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: May 6, 1882 - Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act over President
Chester A. Arthur's veto.
LUNCH: Sandwich, lettuce/tomato, potato chips, fresh fruit
ATHLETICS:
1. SWIMMING – HOME FOR FRONTIER LEAGUE FINALS. Meet begins at 3:00PM Swim Team is
excused from class at 1:30PM.
2. VARSITY BASEBALL - AWAY @ VILLANOVA. Varsity game begins at 3:30PM. Team needs to
be excused from class at 1:00PM to depart at 1:15PM.
3. Girls Basketball meeting on Mon. 5/8/2011 in the gym at 12:50 for all interested in playing basketball
during the 2011-2012 season.
4. ATHLETES - In order for you to participate and practice during the summer for ANY SPORT/PEP
SQUAD you must have a current physical on file with the Athletic Department. See Mrs. Dewey in
the Health Office to set-up an appointment and complete the required paperwork for “FREE” physicals. If you wish to get a physical from your
own personal doctor, please see Lynn in the Student Store for a current physical form. Once completed ALL PHYSCIALS are required to be
returned to Mrs. Dewey in the Health Office.
5. ATHLETIC PARENTS – FHS Athletic Booster Club will be having elections for the 2011-2012 School Year. If you are interested in joining the
Board or just volunteering…ALL ARE WELCOME - Monday, May 9th – 7PM, in Room 1
6. Football Players –physicals from 10:00 – 2:00 on May 7th at Dr. Hakansson’s office (533 Sespe Ave.). Players must pick up physical
paperwork and clearance packet from Lynn Cole in the Student Store before that date.
CLUBS:
1. Flashes Go Green – last monthly clean-up of the year this Friday after school in the quad. Please come help clean the campus and receive
free snacks and community service.
2. S Club - Sign up to volunteer for Boys & Girls Club Taste of the Valley with Ana Pantoja or Mrs. Herrera. Field trips have changed to May 15
& June 5.
3. All Clubs – the 2nd Annual Make-A-Wish, Kids for Wish Kids Walk-a-thon is quickly approaching and ASB is looking for clubs to sponsor fun
activities the day of the event. All proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish. Anyone interested should contact ASB member, Kianna Tarango at

4. MENTOR PROGRAM: Bingo training Mon. at lunch meeting Rm 49. All mentors pls show up for important info.
SENIORS:
1. Seniors taking PASS Saturday class: your last day of class will be sat. May 21st. Your print out with your final grade needs to be turned in to
Mrs. Ashim Mon. May 23rd.
2. DISNEYLAND TRIP - MONEY IS DUE FRIDAY, MAY 6TH!!!! This year’s cost to go on the Disneyland Trip is $57.00. Slips are available in
the Student Store and must be completed prior to the trip.

1. Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards - juniors who plan to attend college in the 2012 Fall semester. Deadline is June 1st. For complete details,

STUDENTS & STAFF:
1. Carls Jr fundraiser – Friday, May 6 from 4 – 10 p.m. Proceeds support Santa Clara Valley Explorers
2. Heritage Valley Blazers Youth Track & Field Club -Junior Varsity Finals this Saturday, May 7th, 2011 at 8:30am (FHS Track).
3. The Make-A Wish Walk-a-thon is on May 18, 2011. The ASB is pre-selling t-shirts. All profits will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Contact
Kianna Tarango, Luz Morones, Monique Avila, Vanessa Perez or Jessica Mayhew. Cost is $13.

Prom Information:
1. TODAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR $45 Prom Tickets! TICKETS ARE SOLD IN THE STUDENT Store at lunch and after school until 3:30! On
Monday the price goes up to $50 per ticket! The prom is going to be a night of FRIENDSHIP and DANCING and, soft lights, a waterfall wall,
three video screens, an amazing photographer, the best ever sound system, Starbucks desserts and all of your friends! The prom will be
SATURDAY May 14th at the Museum of Ventura County (100 E. Main St., Ventura) from 8:00 – midnight. Ask that person to go - no big
deal! BE THERE!
2. Don't whine about the high cost of going out to dinner for prom! Save money, be creative and go to Costco and get a hot dog and a soda for
$1.50 and then go walk on the pier in Ventura and enjoy the sound of the waves and the view of the Pacific Ocean! How Cool is that - hey
people in Kansas would love to do that! Then go to the prom and have a great time dancing and have dessert by Starbucks! .... Mrs. Marvel
3. Mrs. Marvel has some really beautiful dresses that are a size small if you are in need of a dress for prom. Stop by room 4 and talk to her.
