PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: February 1, 2003 - The space shuttle Columbia disintegrated as it tried to reenter the Earth's atmosphere after a
sixteen-day mission in space. All seven members of the crew were lost.

ATHLETICS:
1. WRESTLING - HOME w/ NEW JEWISH COMMUNITY. Weigh-In begins at 5PM, Wrestling starts at 6PM. Matches will be conducted in
the Wrestling Room.
2. JV GIRLS BASKETBALL - AWAY @ SANTA PAULA. Game begins at 3:30PM. JV ONLY is excused from class 2:30PM and will
depart FHS at 2:45PM.
3. GIRLS SOCCER - AWAY @ BISHOP DIEGO. Varsity game begins at 2:30PM, JV follows. Team is excused from class at 12:00PM,
Bus will depart FHS at 12:15PM.
4. PHYSICALS FOR SPRING SPORTS will be given at the Fillmore Medical Clinic FOR BOYS - TODAY from 3:30-4:00PM Please see
Lynn in the Student Store for an Athletic Packet prior to going for your physical.
CLUBS:
1. FHS Ambassadors (UC Ambassadors): meeting TODAY at lunch in Rm. 61 to discuss the upcoming AVID Conference and Higher
Education Week. See you then!
2. Prayer Club meets TODAY at lunch in room 2. We welcome everyone!
3. MECHA CLUB – meets TODAY in Mrs. Juarez’s room.
4. MENTOR PROGRAM: Mtn. Vista mentoring today after school -meet in Rm 17 by 3:15pm.
5. DIVERSITY CLUB at the ONE STEP CENTER: Take a stand against HATE! Join the Diversity Club at the One Step Center. This club is dedicated to
universal respect including, but not limited to, minorities such as those of race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, mental or physical handicap,
nationality, appearance, and financial status. We welcome all who are willing to make a statement for what they believe. We are working on a "No Place for
Hate" Campaign. Action Meeting every Tuesday, 4:00-5:30 at the One Step Center.
SENIORS:
1. DISNEYLAND TRIP - This year’s cost to go on the Disneyland Trip is $57.00. Start early by paying for your ticket or you can make
payments to the Student Store. Permission Slips are available in the Student Store and must be completed prior to the trip.
2. OFF CAMPUS REMINDER – Please go over your Off Campus Contract. Your off-campus permit can be revoked for 8 weeks for 3
tardies in one period and/or a truancy in any class!
3. GRAD NITE LIVE – Tickets for the Central Station Fundraiser are available from Jaci Avila in the Attendance Office.

• FILLMORE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION – applications are in the College and Career Center. They are to be returned to
the alumni office by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 25th.

• Buenaventura Phi Delta Kappa - Deadline is Feb 1st. For complete details, see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center.

STUDENTS:
1. Pennies for Patients fundraising drive – Bring your pennies (or any coins) to your 3rd period classroom. The class that raises the most
money will receive a BBQ lunch put on by the Sheriff and Fire departments!
2. EXTRA CREDIT/MAKE-UP RUNS – Every Wednesday. Report to the track by 3:25.
3. LIONS CLUB SPEAKER CONTEST – all entrants must attend a meeting on Thursday Feb. 3rd at lunch or after school n the drama room
or call 524-4839. Get help and get your questions answered.
4. Yearbook info - You may order personalization for your yearbook for only $5. Have your name and/or icons on the cover of your yearbook
and help prevent loss/theft. Order forms are available in the Student Store. Deadline: February 28th at 3:15.
5. FOUND – girl’s prescription glasses in a case. See Lynn in the Student Store for more info.
6. Renaissance t-shirt – If you did not get your t-shirt last semester, stop by the Student Store on THURSDAY & FRIDAY at lunch. See your
agenda book to make sure that you qualify.
• Freshmen are selling VALENTINE BRACELETS - $1.00.
• ART CLUB will be selling VALENTINE GRAMS at break in the Art Room and in the quad at lunch. Buy them now and
they will be delivered on February 11th.
• AVID Club is selling Valentine’s Chocolate roses every day at lunch in the quad. It’s the perfect gift for that special someone! Roses
are 2 for $1, $3 for half dozen and $6 for a dozen. To purchase, find your favorite AVID student and place an order or place an order at
lunch in the quad. All roses will be delivered on Feb. 10th/11th to your first period class.
