PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: April 29, 1945 - American soldiers liberated the Dachau concentration camp.
CONGRATULATIONS TO: Kyla Hernandez - UC Riverside and UC Merced.

ATHLETICS:
1. BASEBALL - HOME w/ Grace Brethren. Games begin at 3:30PM

SENIORS:
SCHOLARSHIPS: A list of ALL scholarships is available in the COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER
1. The Fillmore Lions -deadline is May 1st. See Mrs. Larin for an application.
2. California Women for Agriculture Ventura County Chapter - scholarship to both female and male students who are planning to pursue a
B.A., A.A. or a degree from an accredited trade school in agriculture or related subject area. Students must also be a one year member, in
good standing with FFA, A-H or Grange OR have a parent/guardian employed in Ventura County agriculture for the past two years. Deadline
is May 25th.
3. Motion Picture Industry Joint Apprenticeship Committee will be accepting applications for apprenticeships in the occupation of Heating,
Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Mechanic from May 11th through May 15th.
4. Rosetta Stone Scholarship Contest is available to students who have learned English as a second language. Students must also be
planning to attend an accredited college or accredited trade school and be U.S citizens, legal residents or have official work or student visas.
You must write an essay in which you address the following question: “How learning English as a second language impacted your life”. See
Mrs. Larin or go online to www.rosettastone.com/scholarship.
FRESHMEN:
1. If you turned in your permission slip for Chalking the “F”, please meet in Mr. Vincent’s Rm. 47 at lunch on WEDNESDAY. If you don’t show, you
won’t go!
STUDENTS:
1. ALL 10-11th grade AP students – Mr. Wilber would like to meet with you in the Career CLASSROOM (library) at 12:15 (or
anytime after 11:30 if you’ve completed testing) to complete your pre-registration form for your AP test(s).
2. The library will be open after school each day this week from 12:10 to 1:30.
3. May 5th is the registration deadline for the June 6th SAT reasoning and subject tests. You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See
your counselor for more information.
4. Mrs. Byrne’s Geometry students can pick up their extra credit before or after testing or during break in room 52. It is due on Monday May 4th.
5. If you are interested in taking the Ventura College Landscaping class next year with Mr. Richter, sign up to see your counselor to register.
6. FOUND – brown wire rimmed glasses. Identify and claim in the Student Store.
7. PROM TICKETS –Couple tickets are $80 and singles are $45. The Jr./Sr. Prom will be SATURDAY, MAY 9TH at the Ventura Theatre from
8PM-12PM.. Tickets will be on-sale in the Student Store all week after school. Buy your tickets now, because the price will increase next
week.
8. You may not attend Prom if you have outstanding Saturday School assignments or detentions. See your Assistant Principal for more
information.
9. FFA is sponsoring a blood drive on Thurs. May 14th . If you are 16 years of age and older you may donate. Pick up parent permission slip in
the health office and return to Janice by Friday May 8th
10. Sadie Hawkins pictures and softball pictures are in and can be picked up at KSSP Photographic Studios (330 Central Ave.).
11. Advanced Art students turn your sketchbooks in to Ms. M by Friday. Drop them off before or after school.
STAR TEST DAYS Tuesday, April 28 – Friday, May 1 – Minimum Days – School dismissed at 12:10. ALL students need to report at 7:55.
The busses will pick up at 12:45 on Tuesday – Friday.
