ATHLETICS:
1. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOOTBALL TEAM for defeating Brentwood Friday, 21-14 and advancing to the CIF Semi-Finals. The next game for the Flashes will be AWAY - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6TH at 7PM against Twentynine Palms.
2. VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL - It’s the Annual FILLMORE GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. Flashes play tonight at 7:45PM. Come support your Lady Flashes!!
3. JV BOYS SOCCER - HOME vs. for the Heritage Valley Tournament. JV Team plays at 4:30PM.
4. FROSH GIRLS SOCCER - AWAY @ Saugus. All Games begin at 3PM. Girls are excused from class at 12:45PM and will depart at 1PM.
5. JV GIRLS BASKETBALL - AWAY @ Santa Paula Tournament. Game begins at 5:30PM. See Coach Tafoya for departure time.
6. VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL - AWAY @ the Laguna Blanca Tournament. See Coach Sebek for departure time.
7. JV BOYS BASKETBALL - AWAY @ Carpinteria Tournament. See Coach Blankenship for departure time.
CLUBS:
1. Mentor Program: Santa Helpers Today Friday -meet at Rm. 10 at the start of 5th period.
2. Mentor Program: Officers Meeting Today Rm. 10 snack provided.
3. ATTENTION UC AMBASSADORS - meeting Tuesday (12/9) at lunch in room 61 to discuss upcoming events (for community service hours!) including: After School Tutoring, partnering with MESA, and A-G Workshops. Looking forward to seeing you there! Mrs. Palacio and Ms. Moriarty
4. Poetry Club – meeting today cancelled, rescheduled for next Friday at lunch in Rm. 18.
SENIORS:
1. Seniors: Josten’s will be here on Friday during break and at lunch to take orders for cap and gowns and announcements.
STUDENTS:
1. PRE-SALE CIF FOOTBALL TICKETS - On Sale in the Student Store. Adults $8, Students and Children $5
2. ROOTERS BUS - The cost is $20 per student. The $20 covers your admission to the game and pays for your transportation to and from the game. Seats are limited to the first 14 Students. You must have a “Signed Parental Permission Slip” in order to go. Permission Slips are available at the Student Store. If you need financial assistance, please see Norma Perez-Sandford.
3. Are you interesting in taking College Classes this spring? Don’t wait until the last minute. Sign up to see your counselor now! A representative from Ventura College will be in the College and Career Center on Thursday, December 11th.
4. The Film Script deadline for the Film Festival has been extended! Now get your application from Mr. Overton, and turn in your finished script by this Friday, Dec. 5th! Get started now to qualify for the $2m500.00 scholarship or one of four brand new laptop computers! See Mr. Overton now!
5. Enter the Lions’ Club speech contest and win $50 with a chance to win $21,250. Top is “Water – Will California Be Left High and Dry?” Open to all students. To enter see Mr. Overton or call Bill Edmonds – 524-4839.
6. If you are interested in taking Mr. Richter’s landscaping class next semester? See your counselor ASAP
7. One Step Center - On Monday the 8th there is a free cooking class at 3:30 and a Stress Group for teens at 4:30
STUDENTS & STAFF:
1. "Little Paws" is a dog rescue in Fillmore. They pay more than $1,200.00 a month to feed over 90 lost and abandoned dogs. Please "Pitch in for Pets." Donate in your 3rd period class and in room 19. Thank you. Chris Fernandez
2. The Annual Canned Food Drive has begun. Start collecting cans, and bring them to your 2nd period class. 1st & 2nd place classes earn a Wood Ranch lunch, and 3rd place class will get El Pescador burritos.
STUDENTS & PARENTS:
1. The district office has asked us to remind you that we only have a 2 week break during the Winter Holiday. Please remind your parents that we expect you all to stay in school until the final day – December 19th. We will continue to remind you at times during the rest of the year. This generally is a time when we have a high absence rate, and we are hoping that by reminding your families early, they will plan to postpone any holiday travel until after December 19th. Thank you.
STAFF:
1. We have seats available on the Rooters Bus, but before we make is available to the general public we are offering the seats on a first-come-first-serve basis to our staff. Cost is $15.00 which will provide transportation to and from the game on a nice “Coach” bus that has reclining seats, restroom and TV’s. The bus will depart FHS at 2:30PM and estimated arrival time back to Fillmore is 1:30AM. Anyone that would like to reserve seats, please contact me ASAP. You have until 10AM TODAY to reserve your seat; otherwise we will open it up to the general public.
