PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: March 26, 1945 - The battle of Iwo Jima ended; about 22,000 Japanese troops were killed or captured in the fighting
and more than 4,500 U.S. troops were killed.

ATHLETICS:
1. TRACK - HOME w/St. Bonaventure & La Reina. Meet begins at 3:00PM. Track Team is excused from class at 1:45PM.
2. GOLF - AWAY @ St. Bonaventure. Match begins at 1:30PM. Golf Team is excused from class at 11:30AM.

4. Baseball Hats – The baseball team is selling baseball hats. Order one at the Student Store or from any baseball player.

3. POETRY CLUB – meeting during lunch in Rm. 18 on Friday.
4. FASHION CLUB - the Fashion Club is hosting the 2009 FHS Fashion Show on Fri., April 3rd from 6:30 – 8:00 in the gym. Tickets are $3.
Proceeds will help fund a scholarship for a senior!

JUNIORS:
1. If you are interested in interning during your senior year with the Fillmore Fire Department or Fillmore Police Department, please see Mrs. Larin
in the College and Career Center during break or lunch. Interviews need to be completed before the end of the school year.
9th, 10th, and 11th graders
1. If you are planning to take any math or English classes at Ventura College during the summer, you must take the assessments. A
representative from Ventura College will be here on Friday, April 17th to administer both the math and English assessments. If you are
interested in taking them, please see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center.
FRESHMEN:
1. If you’re interested in going to chalk the ‘F’ pick up a permission slip in the Student Store. Only 21 spots left! Slip are due by April 17th. Turn
them in to the Freshmen advisor.
STUDENTS:
1. Battle of the Sexes week – DRESS UP DAYS: Thursday – Dress up as a cowboy or an Indian; Friday – “Pink and Blue day” (girls wear
pink, boys wear blue). RALLY SCHEDULE on Friday. PowderPuff Football game on Fri., 3/27 – Seniors vs. Juniors at 7:00 PM on the football
field. Cost is $2 or FREE with an ASB sticker. Come watch and support your favorite class!
2. SADIE HAWKINS – March 28th. Price is $20 per couple or $15 for single ticket. Ladies don’t
forget to ask that special someone?
3. Film Festival – mandatory meeting for ALL DIRECTORS TODAY at lunch in Rm. 18
4. Spring Insight at UCSB is Saturday, 4/4/09. This Open House event
showcases what UCSB has to offer to Fillmore High School students and their families. Don’t
miss out on this great opportunity! Transportation, continental breakfast, and lunch will be
provided. See Mrs. Palacio in the College and Career Center for further details and to pick up a
permission slip.
5. March 31st is the registration deadline for the May 2nd SAT reasoning and subject tests. You
can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See your counselor for more information.
6. AP TESTERS - All payment for AP tests are due by May 1st. Please don’t spring it on your
parents at the last minute! Cost of each test is $78 or Fee Waiver & $5. If you need a fee
waiver for, see Mrs. Lemons in the office.
7. You and your parents are invited to attend the Renaissance Awards Night on April 1st, 6:30
p.m. at Fillmore Middle School. Immediately following will be the Higher Ed College Fair in the
gym. Don’t miss out getting college information from these outstanding colleges. There will be
colleges visiting that we don’t normally get the opportunity to hear from.
