PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: March 20, 2003 - Ground troops entered Iraq and a second round of air strikes against Baghdad was launched.

Leadership Awards ceremony!

3. CONGRATULATIONS TO AIMEE OROZCO - Aimee made CIF Consideration times in the 50 yd. Freestyle
and 100 yd. Freestyle.

1. Mentor Program: We will be nominating Officer for 2009-10 on Monday, March 23 during our lunch
meeting in Rm 49. Get involved run for office or nominate a friend.

SENIORS:
1. Please let Mrs. Ashim know where you have been accepted to college. This is an exciting time of the year, and we want to share the
information with the bulletin (if you want); and we also want to place your name on the College Board of Fame in the office.

10th and 11th graders: The Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project is now accepting applications to their 27th annual week long summer
conference in Sacramento. For complete details, see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center. Deadline is April 13th.
9-11th grade Students: Over the next two weeks your 3rd period teacher will be reviewing your STAR/CST test performance scores from
2008. They will also work with you to set testing goals for this year’s testing that will begin on April 28th. The goals you set will clarify
what scores you need this year to earn the rewards card that was discussed at the class meetings in February. We also want you to
understand that students who do not perform at the basic proficiency levels may be enrolled in extra reading or math support classes
next school year. Remember that our goal is to hit the 700 API mark- With your help- we can do it!
STUDENTS:
1. A new DRIVER’S ED class starts on Monday at 7:00 AM in Rm. 62. The first 30 students get in!
2. The deadline for having your name and/or icons put on your yearbook is Friday, March 20th. Your name is $5 and each icon is $3. Get the
forms and pay in the student store. Yearbooks are $80.
3. SADIE HAWKINS – March 28th. Price is $20 per couple or $15 for single ticket. Ladies don’t forget to ask that special someone?
4. Spring Insight at UCSB is Saturday, 4/4/09. This Open House event showcases what UCSB has to offer to Fillmore High
School students and their families. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity! Transportation, continental breakfast, and lunch will be provided.

5. March 31st is the registration deadline for the May 2nd SAT reasoning and subject tests. You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com.
See your counselor for more information.
6. One Step Center - Monday - Latino art therapy class. The course is led by a counselor from Fillmore Options. You don't have to have any prior
experience. Tuesday - healthy relationships and healthy teens at 3:30. Tuesday & Wednesday 4/7 & 8 - job training course for girls with
potential job opportunities with Tresierras grocery store. Sign up in room ten or at the One Step Center. An updated calendar of all OSC
activities is online at www.myonestep.org
7. You can earn community service hours at the Skate park grand opening this Saturday 3-21. They are looking for help with clean up. Report
to Valley Skateboard booth between 3:00 and 4:00 P.M., ask for Jaci or Katy. Come early if you want to check out the activities. The skate
parks grand opening ceremonies starts at 11:00 A.M., with City officials, Pro Skateboarders and Fillmore’s first high school age Skateboard
team (sk8nhssa.com) Leo Contreras, Joey Liu, Scott Petuoglu, Miguel Yepez & Nick Avila all taking part.
