PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: May 8, 1945 - V-E Day marks the European victory of the Allies in World War II.
LUNCH: Beef & Bean Tostada, Spanish rice, lettuce/tomato.
ATHLETICS:
1. BASEBALL – HOME w/ Bishop Diego. Games begins at 3:30PM. Teams are excused from class at 2:00PM.
2. SWIMMING – AWAY @ Villanova. Frontier League Finals. Meet begins at 2:00PM. Swimmers are excused from class at 11:30AM. Bus will
depart at 12:00PM.
3. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BOYS VOLLEYBALL TEAM - CONDOR LEAGUE CO-CHAMPIONS!! Nathan Zavala, Gerardo Arevalo,
Miguel Alonso, James Farr, Chris DeLaPaz, Erik Storey, Noah Aguirre and Vincent Ferguson & Coach Joe Woods.
4. ATHLETES / PEP SQUAD: PHYSICALS - Dr. Bautista will be offering FREE PHYSICLAS for Athletes and Pep Squad Members that
need one to participate in summer practice. This is also a good time for Athletes participating in any Fall Sport, (Football, Cross Country, Girls
Volleyball & Girls Golf). Physicals will be given WEDNESDAY, MAY 20TH beginning at 3:30PM.
5. JV & VARSITY FOOTBALL – MANDATORY Spring Football practice will begin on Monday at 3:30 for all students not currently involved in a
Spring Sport.
CLUBS:
1. Poetry Club – meeting Friday in the Drama room. Come and check out the poets of Fillmore High School! New members always welcome!
2. S Club – meeting Friday at lunch in Rm. 45. Bring your t-shirt design ideas. We will be making a gift for Mothers’ Day.
3. Mentor Program: New Officers at lunch you will be appointing position -snack provided.
Mentor Program: Bingo training today after school in Rm 17 for the Lions Bingo Booth.
4. ATTENTION UC AMBASSADORS! We will hold a lunch meeting on Tuesday, May 12th in Room 61 to discuss the fundraiser and to elect
officers for next year. See you there! Mrs. Palacio and Ms. Moriarty.
SENIORS:
1. Final voting for Senior Class Song will take place TODAY.
JUNIORS & SENIORS:
1. Voting for Prom King and Queen will take place in the Quad at lunch TODAY.
9th-11th grade students:
1. If you are planning to take Ventura College classes during the summer or fall semester, a counselor from Ventura College will be in the College
and Career Center on May 12th during lunch to register you. Make sure you have all your paperwork ready!
STUDENTS:
1. PROM TICKETS –Couple tickets are $90 and singles are $50. The Jr./Sr. Prom will be SATURDAY, MAY 9TH at the Ventura Theatre from
8PM-12AM.. Tickets will be on sale in the Student Store all week at break and lunch.
2. You may not attend Prom if you have outstanding Saturday School assignments or detentions. See your Assistant Principal for more
information.
3. Night School (with Mrs. Ashim and Ms. Schieferle) will end Thursday, May 21st. No work will be accepted after that date. If you started a
class and have not finished, take this opportunity to complete your credits.
4. ASB Members – The Grad Nite Live Donation Cans are due on May 15th.
5. FFA is sponsoring a blood drive on Thurs. May 14th . If you are 16 years of age and older you may donate. Pick up parent permission slip in
the health office and return to Janice by Friday May 8th
6. IMPORTANT - Students, PLEASE do not open the Science or Arts Building front doors for ANYONE! In order to have a safe and secure
campus, all non students MUST enter the campus through the main office door! If you see someone knocking on the door, please tell them or
motion to them to go to the MAIN OFFICE in the center of street.
PARENTS:
1. OUR ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT and encourages you to join the FHS AHTLETIC BOOSTER CLUB. This group
supports athletics for all of the athletic teams featured at the High School. Without an active and support driven Booster Club, we cannot
improve, introduce, or even maintain existing athletic programs offered at Fillmore High School. Please consider serving as a Booster Club
board member for the 2009/2010 term. An election to select next year’s board will be held Monday, May 11 at 6:30 P.M. at Fillmore High
School, Hall of Fame, located in the Science Building. Should you have questions or concerns, please contact Lynn in the Student Store #524-
8491.
FACULTY:
1. As you know, our prom is tomorrow night at the Ventura Theatre from 8:00 – 12:00. The class of 2010 would like to invite
you to stop by and chaperone if it is convenient for you! We would love to see you there!
