ATHLETICS:
1. WRESTLING BANQUET, TOMORROW at 6:30pm in the Cafeteria. All wrestlers to bring a main and side dish. Call Coach Cal if you have

2. CONGRATULATIONS TO BOYS VOLLEYBALL - Defeating Ojai Valley School last Thursday. That is the teams “first-ever” League Win!!!

CLUBS:
1. Mentor Program: Lunch meeting today Rm 49-nominate Officers 2009-10 & evaluations.
2. S Club – meeting Monday at lunch in Rm. 45. Bring your lunch.
3. MECHA Club – Sign up in Rm. 45 before or after school if you would like to run for Cinco de Mayo princess or queen. Any student can sign up.
You don’t have to be a MECHA Club member.
4. Art Club - meeting Tuesday at lunch in Rm 34.
5. Attention UC Ambassadors! We will be meeting Tuesday, March 24th at lunch in Room 61. We are beginning our fundraiser on this day, so
be sure to show up and receive your supplies. Remember, only those who participate in the fundraiser get to go on the field trip in the spring!
SENIORS:
1. Senior Girls: Powder Puff Football Practice starts tonight. Monday and Wed. practice will be from 6-7:30 pm and on Tues. and Thurs.
practice will be from 7:30 -9 pm at the football field. If you did not turn in you$10 for your t-shirt it must be paid by Monday night practice.
2. Grad Nite Live Yard Sale – April 18th in front of the district office.

• Commander William J. Coffey Memorial Scholarship Deadline is March 30.
• Rotary Club of Fillmore Sun Risers is offering a scholarship to all seniors who
reside within Fillmore Unified School District. Deadline is April 1st.
• Rotary Club of Fillmore-Noontime is offering a scholarship to students who
have demonstrated a commitment to excellence, maintained a balance
achievement in academics, school activities, community service, and personal
goals. Deadline is April 1st.
• Fillmore Women’s Service Club is offering a scholarship to any graduating
senior. You do not have to be a young lady to apply. Deadline is April 1st.
• Japanese American Citizens League is offering a scholarship to any
American of Japanese or part Japanese ancestry. Preference may be
given to VCJACL members or dependents. See Mrs. Larin for
complete details. Deadline is April 1st.
• Friends of Piru is offering a scholarship to students who exited from
Piru Elementary School. Deadline is April 1st.
• Telesis Community Credit Union is offering a scholarship to students
who are in good standing with their school and may not be on
disciplinary or academic probation. Students must have a 2.0 GPA or
higher, be planning to attend a trade school, community college or 4
year college or university and have a strong commitment to community
service. Applicants must provide a resume of community service
activities as well as write two essays. For complete details, see Mrs.

10th and 11th graders: The Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project is now accepting applications to their 27th annual week long summer
conference in Sacramento. For complete details, see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center. Deadline is April 13th.
9-11th grade Students: Your 3rd period teacher will be reviewing your STAR/CST test performance scores from 2008. They will also work with you to
set testing goals for this year’s testing that will begin on April 28th. The goals you set will clarify what scores you need this year to earn the rewards
card that was discussed at the class meetings in February. We also want you to understand that students who do not perform at the basic
proficiency levels may be enrolled in extra reading or math support classes next school year. Remember that our goal is to hit the 700 API mark-

STUDENTS:
1. Battle of the Sexes week – DRESS UP DAYS: Tuesday – “Opposite Day” (girls dress up as boys and vice versa); Wednesday – ‘Twin Day”
(dress up like another on campus); Thursday – Dress up as a cowboy or an Indian; Friday – “Pink and Blue day” (girls wear pink, boys wear
blue)
2. SADIE HAWKINS – March 28th. Price is $20 per couple or $15 for single ticket. Ladies don’t forget to ask that special someone?
3. Spring Insight at UCSB is Saturday, 4/4/09. This Open House event showcases what UCSB has to offer to Fillmore High
School students and their families. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity! Transportation, continental breakfast, and lunch will be provided.

4. March 31st is the registration deadline for the May 2nd SAT reasoning and subject tests. You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com.

5. One Step Center - Monday - Latino art therapy class. Tuesday - healthy relationships and healthy teens at 3:30. Tuesday & Wednesday 4/7 &
8 - job training course for girls with potential job opportunities with Tresierras grocery store. Calendar is online at www.myonestep.org
6. Volunteers wanted: San Cayetano is looking for High School Student volunteers to help with their Family Science Night on March 24th. Start
at 5:30PM and end at 8:00PM. Please call Mary or Martha at San Cayetano to sign up, 524-6040. They are also pre-selling tickets for the
Space Shuttle Café that will be selling dinners that night.
