PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: September 22, 1862 - President Abraham Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, proposing to free all slaves of rebel states as of Jan. 1, 1863.

Juniors and Sophomores:
1. The PSAT Tickets are now for sale in the Student Store. They cost $13.00. The test will be on Saturday, October 18th at 8:30 in Room 49.

STUDENTS:
1. September 21st is the International Day of Peace. Art students have created pinwheels as part of a worldwide art installation. They will be on the fence by the library patio, near the 9/11 memorial tree.
2. September 26th is the registration deadline for the November 1st SAT reasoning and subject tests. You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See your counselor for more information.
3. Class t-shirts are on sale in the Student Store. The shirt designs are in there if you would like to see them. All shirts are $12.
4. A CSUN representative will be in the College and Career Center during lunch on Monday, September 22nd and Tuesday, September 23rd to talk to all interested students.
5. CELL PHONE INFO: IF YOUR CELL PHONE IS TAKEN AWAY, YOUR PARENT MUST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR ADMINISTRATOR TO PICK IT UP AFTER 4:00 PM. YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PICK IT UP THE SAME DAY IT WAS TAKEN AWAY, MRS. GREEN & MR. TORRES ARE VERY BUSY, SO DON'T HAVE YOUR PHONE OUT!!!!
6. Students: Read the Fillmore High School 2008-2009 Discipline Code. Not knowing the discipline code is not an acceptable excuse. You must read and know the code. Gang Related Offenses = 1) flashing gang signs, 2) yelling gang names/slogans, 3) gang graffiti on books/notebooks or other possessions, 4) exposing gang related tattoos. First offense is a 3-day suspension & notification of parents. Second offense is a 5-day suspension & notification of proper authorities. Homecoming Info:
o Kickoff Party on Monday to start Homecoming week! There will be pizza, Liquid Rush, a DJ and a give away! From 7 – 9 at the bus garage where floatbuilding takes place.
o Homecoming Dress Up Days: Monday – Jersey Day (wear jerseys of your favorite team); Tuesday – “Twister” Day (wear polka dots); Wednesday – “Checkers” Day (wear plaid or checkered clothes); Thursday – “Scrabble” Day (wear shirts with words). Friday – “Flashes Pride” (wear blue and white).
o Homecoming Dance - Saturday, Sept. 27th from 7 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. This year it will be semi-formal, so get dress up! Tickets will be $3.00 with an ASB sticker or $5.00 without. Tickets on sale at lunch.
