PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: February 12, 1973 - The first release of American prisoners of war from the Vietnam war took place.

ATHLETICS:
1. GIRLS BASKETBALL - HOME w/ ST. BONNEY. JV game begins at 5:30PM, Varsity at 7PM.
2. BOYS SOCCER - VARSITY ONLY @ SANTA PAULA. Game begins at 5PM. Bus will depart
FHS at 3:30PM.
CLUBS:
1. ANIME CLUB – meeting Thursday at lunch. Bring ideas and sketchbooks.
2. Prayer Club - meeting on Thursdays at lunch in Rm. 2
3. Mentor Program: Sports Mentors today at lunch & after school Mentors Rm 16.
4. ART CLUB – meeting Tuesday at lunch in Rm. 2
SENIORS:
1. If you won a Senior Class Personality, you picture will be taken at KSSP TODAY. Please be at the Studio at 3:00 dressed
appropriately for your category.
2. Don’t forget to sell your tickets to the Central Station’s Tri-Tip Sandwich deal ASAP. If you want to sell some tickets and didn’t get any see
Janice in the Health Office. This will be our big fundraiser to raise money for senior activities.

• The Fillmore Alumni Scholarship - applications must be returned to the alumni office, 549 Sespe Ave., Suite #6 no later than 3:30 p.m., Fri., Feb. 27th.
• CSUCI “Prestigious President’s Scholar Program Scholarship- You must apply online at www.csuci.edu/financialaid/scholarship.htm. Deadline is Feb 13th.
• Best Buy - You must apply online at https://bestbuy.scholarshipamerica.org. Deadline is Feb 15th.
• USA Funds - You must apply online at www.scholarshipamerica.org/usafunds. Deadline is Feb 16th.
• Monsanto Company - “Imagine Your Future in Agriculture” - For complete details see Mrs. Larin or go to http://scholarship.ffa.org. Deadline is Feb 17th.
• Phi Delta Kappa - Deadline is Feb 17th.
• Monsanto Company - “Imagine Your Future in Agriculture” scholarship - from a farm family, have above-average academic record, participated in
extracurricular activities, and plan to enroll as a full time student in an agriculture-related academic major at an accredited school. See Mrs. Larin or go to
http://scholarship.ffa.org. Deadline is Feb 17th.
• HSF/Ford Motor Company Scholarship - Hispanic heritage, U.S. citizens or legal residents, have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, plan to
enroll full time in a four year accredited institution, and must apply for the FAFSA. Apply online at www.hsf.net/scholarships.aspx. Deadline is Feb 18th.
• HSF/General College Scholarships - Hispanic heritage, U.S citizens or legal residents, have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, plan to enroll
full time at a two or four year accredited institution, and must apply for the FAFSA. Apply online at www.hsf.net/scholarships.aspx. Deadline is Feb 18th.
STUDENTS:
1. The Marines will be having a “Pull up Challenge” on Thursday, February 12th during lunch for all students would like to participate.

2. Soroptimist Short Story & Poetry Contest – Enter a short story or poem for a chance to win $50, $35 or $25. Entries are due to Mr. Bauer on
Monday, Feb. 23rd. See your English teacher for more information.
3. Winter formal pictures will be available for pick-up after 3pm at KSSP Photographic Studios (330 Central Ave., Fillmore). Questions or for

4. February 10th is the registration deadline for the March 14th SAT reasoning test (the subject tests will NOT be administered on this
date). You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See your counselor for more information.
5. Pennies-4-Patients is currently going on in your 2nd period class! Make sure you bring in pennies! Any class that raises $200
will earn an El Pescador lunch. Classes that raise $150 will get a pizza lunch, and classes that raise $100 will get a rootbeer
float party. Bring in your pennies NOW!
6. CAFETERIA INFORMATION - It is highly recommended that students that are pre-paying for their school lunches take their
money or check directly to the cafeteria BEFORE school, so the cafeteria manager can ensure the money gets into the correct student account.
7. Are you intrigued about the creative worlds of Fashion and Business? FIDM is having “3 Days of Fashion” during June 24-26. For complete
details, see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center. Space is limited!
8. Science Night is coming to Fillmore! In celebration of National Engineering Week, Ventura College and the Society of Hispanic Professional
Engineers are hosting a fun and informative Science Night in the Fillmore Middle School gym on Thursday, February 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
College students and professional engineers will be helping students create mini science projects such as gliders and cars and holding
competitions to see how they well they work. There will be prizes and refreshments will be served. The event is free and parents are welcome to
attend. See your math or science teacher for a flyer with more information.
STUDENTS & STAFF: Get your tickets now! FHS Drama proudly presents: “Trouble in Dustville!” The show opens Feb. 20th with
performances on the 21st, 22nd, 27th & 28th. Get your tickets from Mr. Overton: Students - $5; Adults $7.
