PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: February 26, 1993 - A bomb exploded at the World Trade Center in New York. The blast killed six people and injured
more than 1,000.

ATHLETICS:
1. TRACK - AWAY @ Channel Islands. Meet begins at 3PM. Team is excused from class at 12:45PM, bus will depart FHS at 1PM.

3. SPRING ATHLETES - You much be CLEARED in order to start practice after 3PM.
CLUBS:
1. Art Club- no meeting this week
2. Prayer Club - meeting on Thursdays at lunch in Rm. 2
3. Hiking Club meets Thursday 2/26 If you plan on attending the next hike, you must attend. Next hike is on 2/28 if the weather is good.
4. MECHA Club – meeting every Thursday at lunch in Rm. 45. Ms. Juarez is creating a dance group of Folk Art Dance on Fridays from 3:15-3:45.
5. Sports Mentor Canceled today Thursday. No after school mentoring today. Staff will be out at a training today. See you next week.
SENIORS:
1. Mrs. Ashim has submitted 245 Cal Grant GPA Verifications. If you are one of the few students who have not given me your SSN and want me
to submit your information, she can do that until March 1st.
2. If you requested transcripts from Debby, PLEASE to pick them up. Debby is getting buried in transcripts on her desk!.
3. If you have not completed your FAFSA there will be another FAFSA workshop on TONIGHT, February 26th at 6:45 p.m. in the library. This
will be the last workshop!

• The Fillmore Alumni Scholarship - applications must be returned to the alumni office, 549 Sespe Ave., Suite #6 no later than 3:30 p.m., Fri., Feb. 27th.
• American Chemical Society Scholars Program is offering a scholarship to African-American, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian students who are planning to pursue a career
in chemical sciences. Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S., have a 3.0 GPA or higher, and demonstrate financial need according to FAFSA.

• Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is offering a scholarship to students who are the son/daughter of an active duty or served as a U.S. Marine or the grandchild of a U.S.
Marine who served during WWII. Students must have a 2.0 GPA or higher. For complete details, see Mrs. Larin or go to www.mcsf.org. Deadline is March 1st. (Attention: All
children whose parent are participating or have participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom: There is additional scholarship funding for you!
• Pepsi is offering the “Escribe tu Futuro” scholarship - http://www.lnesc.org/index.asp? Deadline is Feb 27th.

JUNIORS:
1. Powder Puff football is only 2 weeks away! There will be a sign-up sheet in the Student Store for any girl who would like to play. Guys who
would like to coach please sign-up in the Student Store. TODAY is the only day to sign up.
SOPHOMORES:
1. CLASS RINGS - Jostens will be here March 3rd and 4th to take ring orders at break and during lunch.
STUDENTS:
1. Get your own pictures in the yearbook! Either upload them to images.jostens.com (login ID: 1178444 and password: fillmore1) or bring them
in person to Mrs. Casanave in Room 1. Please include the names of the people in the photos.
2. Go to Room 1 to see what this year’s cover will look like. And we will continue posting new pages as they are completed, so come by often!
3. If you are interested in having your yearbook personalized (helps prevent theft!), go to the Student Store to pick up a form. The cost is only $5
to have your name engraved onto the cover of your yearbook! The deadline for personalization is March 20th.
4. CLASS MEETINGS – Friday, Feb. 27 – GYM. Freshmen—1st period, Sophomores-- 2nd period, Juniors-- 3rd period, Seniors—4th Period.
5. Mrs. Ashim’s Night School will be held in the Library this week from 3:10 – 5:30.
6. Girls interested in competing in the Miss Fillmore/Miss Teen Fillmore Pageant: First Practice (& points will begin) WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4TH

8. INDIAN EDUCATION STUDENTS – there is a free 2-week residential summer program (June 27-July 12 at University of Irvine) where students
work with professors, college students, and invited American Indian community members to develop interactive story projects that combine
