4. FASHION CLUB – meeting on Monday & Wednesday to discuss upcoming “Gorilla” Fashion Show. New members are welcome!

1. Seniors, the Wall of College Acceptances is up and waiting for your information. Please let Mrs. Ashim know when you have been accepted
to college, and your name will be placed on the wall.

• The Fillmore Alumni Scholarship - applications must be returned to the alumni office, 549 Sespe Ave., Suite #6 no later than 3:30 p.m., Fri., Feb. 27th.
• KFC scholarship - Students must apply online at http://www.act.org/kfcscholars/index.html. Deadline is Feb 10th.
• CSUCI is offering the “Prestigious President’s Scholar Program Scholarship- You must apply online at www.csuci.edu/financialaid/scholarship.htm.
Deadline is Feb 13th.
• Best Buy - You must apply online at https://bestbuy.scholarshipamerica.org. Deadline is Feb 15th.
STUDENTS:
1. Winter formal pictures will be available for pick-up after 3pm on Wednesday, February 4th at KSSP Photographic Studios (330 Central Ave.,

2. Art Club is selling Valentine grams for $1. Order yours today for delivery on Feb. 12. Stop by Room 34 or buy them at lunch in the quad.
3. The AVID junior class is selling Valentine bears. See any AVID junior and order yours today. Bears will be delivered on Thurs. 2/12 during 5th
period.
4. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and nothing says “I Love You” like a carnation. Sales are Feb. 4-11 for $2 each. Red=love,
yellow=friendship, pink=crush.
5. February 10th is the registration deadline for the March 14th SAT reasoning test (the subject tests will NOT be administered on this date). You
can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See your counselor for more information.
6. Pep Squad - CHEER SHOWCASE -Thursday February 5th at 7:30. Tickets are on sale now for $3.00 and $5.00 at the door.
7. One Step - Thursday is our monthly Teen Group. Anyone is welcome to come talk about whatever is on their mind - problems with parents,
friends, or school. This is a safe place to be yourself. It is lead by a Fillmore Options Counselor.
8. LOCKERS - If you have been or are currently sharing a locker with a student that has “check-out” and no longer attends FHS, please remove
your belongings from their locker. You are only supposed to use the locker that is assigned to you. We have NEW STUDENTS that need a
locker.
9. Miss/Teen GREATER VENTURA COUNTY USA 2009 Pageant - Attention young ladies between the ages of 13 –25. There is an opportunity
for scholastic achievers aspiring actresses and models. The Miss Greater Ventura County USA & Miss Greater Ventura County Teen USA
pageants will be held on march 22, 2009. This is for young women that would like to earn scholarship dollars up to $500.00 or the opportunity to
participate in a state pageant. The opening night for all young ladies ranging from ages 13-25 will be at Brekke Elementary School, Feb.
12, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. The address is: 1400 Martin Luther King, Jr Dr. Oxnard, Ca. Applications will be in the Student Store. This is an
opportunity to gain scholarship dollars and modeling/acting opportunities.
10. STUDENT STORE - The Student Store will be CLOSED Friday and Monday. Athletes, please see Coach Woods, Annette, Manuel or Janice
regarding storing your athletic bags.
