PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: March 12, 1933 - President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave the first of his nation-wide "fireside chats" on radio.

ATHLETICS:
CLUBS:
1. ANIME CLUB – meeting Thursday at lunch in Rm. 34 – Art Room.
2. Prayer Club – Meeting on Thursday at lunch in the Drama room.
3. Hiking Club: No meeting this week. Stay tuned for details on the next hike which will be after Spring Break.
4. There is no One Step Board Meeting today due to blackout week. Thursday is the monthly Teen Group lead by Fillmore Options starting at
5pm
SENIORS:
1. A representative from Moorpark College will be in the College and Career Center during lunch TODAY, March 12th for anyone interested in
attending this community college
2. There will be a MANDATORY meeting ford all players and coaches interested in participating in PowderPuff at lunch on FRIDAY in Rm. 65. All
contracts and forms will be passed out, so make sure that you attend.
JUNIORS:
1. All juniors who signed up to play or coach PowderPuff football must pick up paper work in the Student Store at lunch on Friday. Friday will be
the only day to get the paperwork. If you do not receive these forms, you will not play.
FRESHMEN: The freshmen yearbook portrait pages will be displayed on the attendance office windows until Thursday. Go by and make sure there
are no problems with your picture and name. If you find a mistake, see Mrs. Casanave In Room 1 immediately.
STUDENTS:
1. NO COLLABORATION ON 3/11 & 3/18. March 11th – 13th – QUARTER FINALS; March 18th – CAHSEE testing. School begins at 7:50 on
those Wednesdays.
2. REGULAR BELL SCHEDULE for QUARTER FINALS –Thurs., March 12th –
ENGLISH/FOREIGN LANGUAGE; Fri., March 13th – SCIENCE/MATH.
3. The deadline for having your name and/or icons put on your yearbook is Friday, March 20th. Your name is $5 and each icon is $3. Get the
forms and pay in the student store. Yearbooks are $80.
4. BATTLE OF THE SEXES week - March 23 – 27. Events including Food Day, Powderpuff football and the rally will be held on March 27th.
Sadie Hawkins Dance will be on March 28th.
5. SADIE HAWKINS – March 28th. Tickets will go on sale March 16. Price is $20 per couple or $15 for single ticket. Ladies don’t forget to ask
that special someone?
6. Attention All Students: Shamrock Pins are on sale for St. Patrick’s Day! They are guaranteed to bring you good luck and to help you avoid
getting pinched. Pins are on sale now until March 17th and can be purchased from your favorite AVID junior. *All proceeds will be used to help
the AVID junior class go on their annual college tour and visit schools such as Fresno State, UC Merced, UC Berkeley, Stanford And Cal Poly
SLO.
7. The 11th Annual Art Show is coming April 14th. If you would like to have artwork in the show, please come by Rm. 34 for details.
Deadline for entries is March 27th
8. The One Step Center is having a Yard Sale this Saturday if You have signed up to work please be on time! Come on down to
the chocolate church from 7am-3pm this Saturday prices start at 3 cents!
9. Any student interested in trying out for cheerleading can pick up an application in the Student Store. Practice starts March
23rd at 3:15 in front of the high school. Any questions, see Ms. Tafoya in Rm. 1.
Students and Teachers:
1. On March 17 and 18, 2009, the CAHSEE Exit Exam will be given to all 10th and to Juniors who have NOT passed one or both exam
sections. Testing will begin at 8 a.m. until students are done. Students, keep reviewing your Math and English class notes, doing all your
homework and asking your teacher(s) for help on areas you do not clearly understand. Testing rooms with student names will be posted on
the Attendance Office windows next Monday afternoon. REPORT DIRECTLY TO YOUR TESTING ROOM AND DO NOT BE LATE!
