PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: November 6, 1860 - Abraham Lincoln was elected president of the United States.

LUNCH : Chicken fajita, Spanish rice & tortilla.

ATHLETICS:
1. CROSS COUNTRY - HOME / LEAGUE FINALS. Meet will begin at 3:00PM at the School Farm. Cross Country Team is excused from class at 11:45AM and will depart for the match at 12PM.
2. VOLLEYBALL - HOME w/GRACE BRETHREN. Frosh begins at 4PM, JV at 5PM and Varsity at 6PM. This will be the last volleyball game of the season. Please attend at support your Lady Flashes!!
3. JV FOOTBALL PLAYERS - Check out www.heatactionphotos.com for great pictures you can purchase online of the Fillmore-Santa Paula Game.
4. SWIM TEAM: Important meeting on Thurs., Nov. 13 (date change) in rm. 49 at lunch. ALL students interested in participating on the swim team in the NEW POOL should attend. Pass the word!
5. Boys’ Basketball: Mandatory tryouts for all levels of boys’ basketball, Wednesday through Friday, November 12th-14th, in the gym from 5-6:30 pm. Come dressed in basketball attire and be ready to work. You must have a current physical on file to participate. If you are currently in another sport or have a conflict with tryouts, you must communicate in person with Coach Sebek in room 50 prior to the first day of tryouts, November 12th. CLUBS:
1. HIKING CLUB/AVID CLUB: Meet in Rm. 59 to discuss car wash and other fundraisers. See you there!
2. MECHA CLUB – meeting Thursday at lunch for all members.
3. ANIME CLUB – meeting on Thursday at lunch in Rm. 34.
4. CSF club: There will be a meeting on THURSDAY, this week at lunch in Ms Hoffman’s room #60. If you come after 12:25, you’ll miss the meeting so don’t go off campus for lunch. We will be tallying the ballots for our senior mock election.
5. INTERACT CLUB – first meeting on Thursday during lunch in Rm. 65 to discuss the Canned Food Drive & future Peace Corps of America projects. New members welcome!
6. Mentor Program: Sports Mentors meet today at lunch. Meet at the gate near the B&G Club.
7. FASHION CLUB – meets this Friday at lunch in Rm. 34.

SENIORS:
1. If you need your personal statements from last year, you can pick those up from Mrs. Palacio in the College & Career Center.
2. All UC applications must be reviewed by Mrs. Palacio before submitting application online.
3. Message from Mrs. Chaney for Grad Nite Live: Seniors get busy. I'm hearing that some of the teachers and the classified personal haven't ordered pies or even been asked yet. The people at school are the easy ones. Remember Friday the 14th is the last day to sell. Turn your envelope with the money and order form in at the Student Store. Need help? See Annette Fox, Barbara Lemons, Malu Brock or call Mrs. Chaney 524-4909.
Scholarships:
o General Motors is offering a scholarship to African American, Hispanic, Native Americans or Asian/Pacific Islander students planning to enroll full time in an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university. Students must also have a 3.0 GPA or higher, demonstrate both academic excellence as well as outstanding community service through activities, volunteerism and work experience, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. STUDENTS:
1. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION – Every Tuesday & Thursday from 3:15-4:15 in Rm. 49
2. November 7th is the registration deadline for the December 13th ACT tests. You can register on-line at www.actstudent.org. See your counselor for more information.
3. Please consider the due date for Film Festival scripts. The due date is Dec. 1st. See Mr. Overton with any questions.
4. Students & Staff: Mecha invites you and your classes to visit Room 7 to view the Day of the Dead Altars. The room will be open for viewing all week. If you have any questions- contact Ms Juarez.
5. GREAT NEWS! You only have to be 16 years old to donate blood with parent permission. Sign up in the Health Office before 11/14. ASB Blood Drive is Thursday, Nov. 20th. You must check the Height & Weight chart on the permission form to donate blood. If you don’t’ fall in the OK category, you cannot donate. See Janice if you have any questions.
6. ASB currently has two open positions – Senior Class Senator & ASB Secretary. If you are interested in either position, please pick up an Intent to Run packet in the Student Store. It must be turned in at the Student Store no later than 3:15 on Wednesday 10/12.
