PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: October 23, 1915 - 25,000 women marched in New York City, demanding the right to vote.
LUNCH – Spaghetti w/meat sauce, garlic break & salad.
ATHLETICS:
1. JV FOOTBALL - AWAY @ Malibu. Game begins at 3:30PM. JV TEAM ONLY is excused from class at 12PM. Bus will depart FHS at 12:30PM.
2. GIRLS GOLF - AWAY @ Carpinteria. Match begins at 3PM. Girls Golf is excused at 12:45PM to depart at 1PM.
3. VOLLEYBALL - AWAY @ Santa Clara. Frosh Match begins at 4PM, JV at 5PM and Varsity at 6PM. Volleyball is excused from class at 2PM and will depart at 2:15PM.
4. WINTER SPORT ATHLETES - Athletes are planning on participating in a WINTER/SPRING Sport and are still in need of a physical, Dr. Bautista will be offering FREE Physicals on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29TH beginning at 3:30PM.
5. WINTER SPORTS CLEARENCE NIGHT – will be held WENESDAY, OCTOBER 29TH beginning at 6:30PM in the Gym. This is for Winter Athletes and their Parents.
6. BASEBALL - Any boys wishing to participate in JV / Varsity Baseball, please sign-up in the student store.
7. Boys Basketball - Open gym for boys’ basketball all levels Thursday, October 23rd, 30th, and November 4th from 3:15-4:30. You must have a current physical on file with the athletic office to participate. No exceptions. Dr. Bautista will be offering “FREE Physicals” on Wednesday, October 29th beginning at 3PM. CLUBS:
1. FASHION CLUB – meets every Wednesday & Friday at lunch in Rm. 34.
2. Anime Club meeting Thursday at lunch in Room 34.
3. Montana Yellowstone Expedition Alums – please call Mrs. Edmonds at 907-6576 to set up field trips. She has vans and drivers.
SENIORS:
1. Senior Ball tickets will be on sell this week in the Student Store during lunch. $40 a couple and $20 single. Senior Ball will be held on Oct. 25th and the theme is “All that Jazz”
2. Two CSU representatives will be on campus this Thursday, 10/23/08 in the Career Classroom all day to assist students with CSU applications.
3. A step by step UC application workshop will be held after school on Monday, 10/27/08 in the College and Career Center (Rm. 9).
4. If you are interested in architecture, have excellent grades, or are a minority or disadvantage student and would like to apply for a special scholarship, please see Mrs. Ashim.
5. CSUN will be hosting a Preview Day on Saturday, October 25th from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. RSVP online at www.csun.edu/outreach. For complete details go online or see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center.
JUNIORS:
1. Arch bearer points will be given to all Juniors who buy class t-shirts. Design is in the Student Store. Cost is $12.
STUDENTS:
1. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION – Every Tuesday & Thursday from 3:15-4:15 in Rm. 49. If you have not served your detentions, you will not be allowed to attend the Santa Paula football rally or game. You will also not be allowed to attend this Saturday’s Senior Ball. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are not on a detention list.
2. Fillmore Art Chalk Festival needs YOU. Have fun and earn community hours, too. The Art Harvest Sidewalk chalk art event is on Saturday Oct. 25th - in front of City Hall. Event starts at 9:45am and runs until dusk. Volunteer as many hours as you can. For more information or to sign up come to Room 34.
3. San Cayetano School is looking for High School student Volunteers for their Fall Carnival. The Carnival is Thursday October 30th from 3:00 (set up) to 8:00. If any student would like to volunteer their time, call Martha Hope at 524-8142 during school hours.
4. University of Notre Dame Information Program: Monday, October 27, 2008 at 7 p.m. at St. Bonaventure High School – Rooms 607 and 608 3167 Telegraph Road, Ventura
5. The Grizzly Youth Academy, FREE to male and female students, ages 16 through 18 ½, is NOW accepting student applications for the Spring Semester. The program is for students who are behind in credits, have a low G.P.A or want to get away from negative influences. Students must turn in a completed STUDENT APPLICATION and MENTOR APPLICATION to Ms. Norma in the Attendance Office no later than November 30th to make sure you get a spot. Anyone interested in making a positive change in their lives can come by before school, at lunch time or after school to get help with their application.
6. CLASS RINGS - Jostens will be here to deliver class rings on Friday, October 31st during break and at lunch to the students who bought them at the end of August.
7. RED RIBBON/SANTA PAULA WEEK – Oct. 27-31. Show your school spirit and dress up! Monday – Pajama Day; Tuesday – Wear Blue; Wednesday – Nerd Day; Thursday – Shades and Caps; Friday – Halloween Costumes
