PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: August 26, 1920 - The 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote went into effect.

ATHLETICS:
1. ATHLETES: Remember you are not allowed to participate in any FALL SPORT until you have been CLEARED and your TRANSPORTATION FEES have been paid.

CLUBS:
1. ART CLUB – the first meeting of the year is Tuesday, August 26th at lunch in Rm. 34. New members welcomed!
2. If you are on the Interact Club “Relay for Life” team there will be a mandatory meeting on Tues. 8/26 during lunch in the Health Office. We have permission slips to pass out that must be signed by your parents and other info to discuss. Bring your lunch.
3. CYCLING CLUB – meet on Wednesday at lunch in Rm. 46. New members welcomed.
4. MECHA CLUB – meeting Thursday at lunch in Mrs. Juarez room #45. Officers – be sure to wear MECHA shirts. New members are welcomed.
5. ANIME CLUB – Attention students – there is a new club starting Thursday in Rm. 34. Bring your lunch and ideas. See you there!
6. Hiking Club: Meeting Thursday at lunch in Rm. 59. Our first hike will be on September 27th. Come to Thursday’s meeting to find out where.
7. AVID Club: First meeting to discuss fundraisers and planning for field trips. Congratulations to our new officers: President: Luz Morones, VP: Kelly Magana, Secretary: Amparo Magana and Treasurer: Sarah Goza. All AVID students are encouraged to participate.

SENIORS:
1. Just a reminder that your OFF CAMPUS LUNCH PERMIT will be TAKEN AWAY if you have an AWOL and do not serve your detention! Detention Tuesday & Thursday with Mr. Bedau in Rm. 39 at 3:15.
2. Interested in becoming a fire cadet? Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center can help you! You must have a 3.0 GPA or higher to qualify and participate.
3. Walk-in Dates & Times for Yearbook Portraits - Last Chance. KSSP Photographic Studios, your senior yearbook portrait photographer, is offering walk-in yearbook portrait sessions for students that have not already had their yearbook portraits taken or who do not have scheduled appointments. The dates for these walk-in sessions are Wednesday, September 3, 3pm - 7pm; Thursday, September 4, 3pm - 7pm; and Saturday, September 6, 9am - 3pm. The cost of the session is $25 + sales tax (=$26.81) which includes retouching. The sessions will be at the KSSP studio - 330 Central Ave., Fillmore (805) 524-6400. Students are reminded that appropriate dress is required. This is the last chance to get yearbook pictures taken for the yearbook.

JUNIORS & SENIORS:
1. Juniors & Seniors who are employed – earn 10 credits. “NO HOMEWORK”. Sign up for Diversified Occupations – Work Experience class. Attend class 1 day per week on Tuesday. You can attend the 12:30 – 3:00 class or the 3:00 – 5:30 class. See your counselor for details.
2. Still haven’t ordered your Class Ring? Jostens will be here on Wednesday, August 27th to go over information regarding upcoming orders.

STUDENTS:
1. Our ID Equipment has Arrived!!!! If you still need an I.D. card, please see Lynn in the Student Store.
2. BOOKCOVERS - Just a reminder that Book Covers are sold in the Student Store for $1.00.
3. CELDT testing will be occurring this week during 1st and 2nd period. Please report to Room 40 and do not delay!
4. Class t-shirts pre-orders will be taken in the Student Store starting Monday, Aug. 25th. All shirts will be $12.00.
5. A representative from the VC bookstore will be at FHS in room 45 to sell textbooks from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday this week (August 25 and 27) Contact Charles Wilson at the bookstore 654-6400 ext. 3181 if you have questions about your textbook order. Students can pay with cash, check, money order and credit card (if they have their student ID number).
6. If you received a Ventura College book voucher last semester and purchased a text book, please turn in your books to Mrs. Palacio in room 9. There are several students needing VC textbooks. I will also take any textbook that you would like to donate for other students to use.
7. ROP AUTO CLASS – starts TODAY at 3:30.
8. Administrative detention will be held in Rm. 39 this week on Tuesday and Thursday with Mr. Bedau. Students assigned must report there by 3:15.
9. Please be aware that the administration is planning to use metal detectors periodically when students enter school. This will occur randomly and without notice. Also, we have contacted the Sheriff’s Department to schedule visits by the drug sniffing dogs to check locker areas for any evidence of drugs on campus. Please join us in making the school a safe place to learn.

STUDENTS & STAFF:

2. Thanks for an outstanding Welcome Back Rally! The efforts of the ASB and Band are much appreciated.

STAFF:
1. Jostens will be here on Wednesday, August 27th to go over information with Juniors & Seniors regarding Class Rings. They will speak to students in US History Classes, Economic Classes and US Government Classes.
