PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: December 16, 1773 - The Boston Tea Party took place.
LUNCH : Garden Bar & BBQ
ATHLETICS:
1. JV & VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER – HOME w/ Grace Brethren. JV game begins at 4:30PM, Varsity at 6PM.
2. WRESTLING - HOME vs. Santa Ynez. Weigh-Ins begin at 4PM, Matches begin at 5PM.
3. Attn: JV FOOTBALL PLAYERS – You need to see Lynn in the Student Store with your t-shirt size & money for your Championship t-shirt by Friday, 12/19.
CLUBS:
1. MESA is back! Come to our first meeting of the year on Tues., Dec. 16th at 12:30 in Rm. 22 (Mr. Waddell). Projects & fun! All are welcome!
2. Art Club - quick meeting after school today.
3. Tomorrow night Prayer Club will meet at 5:45 p.m. at McDonald’s. At 6 p.m. we will go Christmas caroling at the Orange Blossom Villa. Everyone is invited!
4. Mentor Program: All Community Mentees -Holiday Party at the One Step Center this Wed. 17th from 3:30-8pm.
5. Mentor Program: All high school "Bigs" & "One Step" students are invited to the Holiday party this Th from 12:30-3pm @ the One Step Center -there will be gifts, food & more to thank you for your hard work.
SENIORS:
1. Please see Mrs. Curnett ASAP if you are going to need transcripts for college applications. She will be out of the office January 12th through the 16th. Do not wait until the last minute!
Scholarships: See Mrs. Larin in the College & Career Center for details.
• The Elks - go to www.elks.org/enf/scholars Deadline is January 9.
• The California-Hawaii Elks Association - vocational/technical course. All applicants must be citizens of the U.S. Deadline is Dec.9th.
• Gate Millennium Scholars Program Scholarship - submitted online by January 12, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. EST or the paper application postmarked on or before January 12, 2009. www.gmsp.org.
STUDENTS:
1. You will be receiving your 2nd Semester schedule during 4th period TODAY. Please review your schedule for accuracy and put it into your agenda book for 2nd semester. This is the only copy of your schedule that you will be receiving. Schedule changes can be made this week after school from 1:00-3:00 (1:30 – 3:00 on Wed.)
2. STUDENTS TAKING PASS CLASSES AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL - THE LAST SATURDAY CLASS WILL BE SATURDAY DEC. 20th. The next PASS class will begin on January 10th.
3. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION –Tuesday, Thursday & Friday at 12:15 in Rm. 49
4. Come audition for FHS’s next big show, “Trouble in Dustville”. Lots of parts available for this melodrama, so come to the drama room on Dec. 18 & 19 from 1-3 p.m. No experience? No Problem? We need LOTS of people. Questions? See Mr. Overton.
5. BAND STUDENTS - The jams you ordered will be here after school, on Wed., Dec. 17. All band students pick up your jams for delivery.
6. December 26th is the registration deadline for the January 24th SAT reasoning and subject tests. You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See your counselor for more information.
7. January 6th is the registration deadline for the February 7th ACT tests. You can register on-line at www.act.org. See your counselor for more information.
8. There will be math tutoring available Tues, Wed, and Thurs for all math levels at the One Step Center. The center will be open until 7:30.
9. Yearbook pages are being posted on the windows of room 1. Come and check them out!
JUNIORS:
1. Discover Scholarship - go to www.discoverfinancial.com/community or see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center. Deadline is January 31st.
STUDENTS & PARENTS:
1. The district office has asked us to remind you that we only have a 2 week break during the Winter Holiday. Please remind your parents that we expect you all to stay in school until the final day – December 19th. Thank you. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT NOT ONLY ARE YOU EXPECTED TO STAY UNTIL DEC. 19th, BUT IF YOU LEAVE BEFORE THAT DATE YOU RISK LOSING ALL OF YOUR CREDITS & FAILING ALL OF YOUR CLASSES!
