PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: February 24, 1803 - The Supreme Court ruled in Marbury v. Madison that any act of Congress which conflicts with the
Constitution is null and void.

ATHLETICS:
1. CONGRATULATIONS to the GIRLS BASKETBALL team for defeating Chaminade on Saturday. They now advance to
the CIF Quarter-finals and will play at HOME on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Pacific Hills. ASB is purchasing 25
student tickets from CIF to give away. Sign up in the quad at break and lunch TODAY for a chance to win one! The
winners will be announced at lunch on Wednesday.
2. SPRING ATHLETES - You much be CLEARED in order to start practice after 3PM.
CLUBS:
1. Art Club- no meeting this week
2. Fashion Club – meeting Wednesday at lunch to discuss upcoming Fashion Show.
SENIORS:
1. Mrs. Ashim has submitted 245 Cal Grant GPA Verifications. If you are one of the few students who have not given me your SSN and want me
to submit your information, she can do that until March 1st.
2. If you ordered a transcript from Debby, please stop by to pick them up. Thanks.
3. If you have not completed your FAFSA there will be another FAFSA workshop on Thursday, February 26th at 6:45 p.m. in the library. This
will be the last workshop!

• The Fillmore Alumni Scholarship - applications must be returned to the alumni office, 549 Sespe Ave., Suite #6 no later than 3:30 p.m., Fri.,
Feb. 27th.
• Pepsi is offering the “Escribe tu Futuro” scholarship to students who are U.S citizens or legal residents, have applied to a two year college,
university, or vocational schools that lead to an associate’s degree. Students must also be involved in academic achievement, participation in
community service and/or extra curricular activities, and demonstrate financial need. http://www.lnesc.org/index.asp? Deadline is Feb 27th.
• NIH program - scholarship to students who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science health related research,
have a grade point average of 3.5 GPA or be ranked within the top 5 percent of your class, be from a disadvantage background, plan to enroll

• US Bank scholarship to students who are planning to enroll full time in an accredited two or four year college or university. Students must be

SOPHOMORES:
1. CLASS RINGS - Jostens will be here March 3rd and 4th to take ring orders at break and during lunch.
STUDENTS:
1. If you arrive after the tardy bell (7:55) but before 8:10 please enter through the 2nd Street gate. If you arrive at school after 8:10, please
report to the front office for your tardy.
2. CLASS MEETINGS – Friday, Feb. 27 – GYM. Freshmen—1st period, Sophomores-- 2nd period, Juniors-- 3rd period, Seniors—4th Period.
3. MISS FILLMORE / MISS TEEN FILLMORE PAGEANT APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE Applications for the Miss Fillmore/Miss Teen Fillmore
Pageant are available. First official practice will begin Wednesday, March 4th. Miss Contestants must be a Junior or Senior girl in good
standing. Teen Contestants must be a girl between the ages of 13 (by January 1st) and 17 in good standing, but not a Junior or Senior. All
contestants must reside within the Fillmore Unified School District boundaries. Applications are available at Fillmore High Schools Student
Store, the Fillmore Chamber of Commerce or by contacting Pageant Director Lori McLain at #524-4432.
4. The Apparel Merchandising and Management (AMM) Department at Cal Poly Pomona will be holding its annual showcase event “Apparel News
& Focus Days” on March 5th, 6th, and 7th, from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm. You must RSVP by Feb 27th. For complete details see Mrs. Larin in the
College and Career Center.
5. PENNIES FOR PATIENTS – So far we have 2 classes that have collected over $200 each! How is your class doing?
STUDENTS & STAFF:
1. Get your tickets now! FHS Drama proudly presents: “Trouble in Dustville!” This week’s performances on the 27th & 28th. Get your
tickets from Mr. Overton: Students - $5; Adults $7.
2. There is a free medical clinic available in Thousand Oaks. It may be a little far, but it also provides FREE MEDICINE as well. Please share with
students in case there is a need in these tough times. Counseling, social workers and some dental assistance is provided as well. Please see
