PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: March 3, 1845 - The U.S. Senate passed legislation overriding a presidential veto for the first time.

ATHLETICS:
1. VOLLEYBALL - AWAY @ Rio Mesa. Match begins at 6PM. Team will depart FHS at 4PM.
2. The following Soccer Players need to turn-in their uniforms: Abel Ayala, Jose Mariscal, Diego Ramírez, Anthony Chavez, (JV Uniform), Eric
Figueroa, Damian Lepe, Jose Garcia, Edgar Ballesteros
3. SPRING ATHLETES - You much be CLEARED in order to start practice after 3PM. \
4. Boys’ Basketball meeting for all players who participated this season at the start of lunch on Tuesday, March 3rd, in room 50. Meeting will
be short so be on time.
5. Varsity Girls basketball players must turn in all uniforms game and practice plus blue books this week ASAP.
CLUBS:
1. MECHA CLUB – mandatory officers’ meeting Tuesday. Ms. Juarez’s dance practice every Tuesday & Friday.
2. One Step Center - Tuesday the 3rd, a healthy eating and cooking class starts at 4pm. This is a regular weekly class where everyone who is
interested is welcome to come!
SENIORS:
1. Yearbook still needs your senior wills. Email them to hcasanave@fillmore.k12.ca.us by this Friday to ensure a space in the yearbook. Wills are
$20 for 200 words or fewer.
2. If you requested transcripts from Debby, PLEASE to pick them up. Debby is getting buried in transcripts on her desk!
3. The National Electric Contractors Association is accepting applications for their apprenticeship program. Students must be at least 18 years of
age and be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. For complete details, see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center during break or lunch.
Deadline is May 1st.

• The Hispanic Heritage Scholarship is available to students who are planning to enroll as a full time college student in the fall of 2009, be of Hispanic/Latino
descent, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and be a U.S. citizen or legal resident. You must apply online at www.hispanicheritage.org. Deadline is March 6th.
• Body by Milk is offering a scholarship to student athletes who know what it takes to work hard and stand as a role model for their peers. You must apply online
at www.sammy.bodybymilk.com and must also be nominated by a teacher, coach, principal, guidance counselor, athletic director, parents, and/or relatives.
Deadline is March 6th.
• Ronald McDonald House Charities is offering a scholarship to African-American, Asian Pacific American, or Hispanic students who are planning to attend a two
or four year college or university full time. See Mrs. Larin for an application. Deadline is March 13th.
JUNIORS:
1. If you are interested in attending a summer program at Harvard University, Stanford University, the University of Notre Dame, or Yale
University, please see your counselor or Mrs. Larin for complete details. Deadline is March 31st.
SOPHOMORES:
1. CLASS RINGS - Jostens will be here TODAY & TOMORROW to take ring orders at break and during lunch.
STUDENTS:
1. Get your own pictures in the yearbook! Either upload them to images.jostens.com (login ID: 1178444 and password: fillmore1) or bring them
in person to Mrs. Casanave in Room 1. Please include the names of the people in the photos.
2. Go to Room 1 to see what this year’s cover will look like. And we will continue posting new pages as they are completed, so come by often!
3. If you are interested in having your yearbook personalized (helps prevent theft!), go to the Student Store to pick up a form. The cost is only $5
to have your name engraved onto the cover of your yearbook! The deadline for personalization is March 20th.
4. Girls interested in competing in the Miss Fillmore/Miss Teen Fillmore Pageant: First Practice (& points will begin) WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4TH
- 5:30PM - Memorial Building. Applications are available at the Student Store. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact

5. SADIE HAWKINS dance is just around the corner. Tickets will go on sale March 2nd – March 13. Ladies don’t forget to ask that special

6. INDIAN EDUCATION STUDENTS – there is a free 2-week residential summer program (June 27-July 12 at University of Irvine) where students
work with professors, college students, and invited American Indian community members to develop interactive story projects that combine
