PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: March 31, 1917 - The United States took possession of the Virgin Islands.

ATHLETICS:
1. SOFTBALL - AWAY @ Santa Clara. Varsity Only. Game begins at 3:30PM. Varsity Team is excused from class at 1:00PM and will depart
FHS at 1:15PM
2. Congratulations to swimmers: Aimee Orozco for making CIF consideration times in the 50 yd. and 100 yd. freestyle at the Santa Paula meet;
Ryder Bush for making CIF consideration time in the 100 yd. backstroke at the Villanova Invitational.
CLUBS:
1. UC Ambassadors – meeting 3/31 in Rm. 61. College Night is Wed., 4/1 at the Middle School gym at 7 following the Renaissance Awards. UC
Ambassadors – please remember to come help set up at 5 p.m. in the gym. We need your help! Don’t forget to wear the club shirt!
2. Joint Leadership Retreat for the Mentor and One Step Center members on Friday April 10th. The Retreat is for all officers and board
members. If you are interested, please pick up and turn in a permission slip to room 17 by this Friday April 3rd.
3. One Step - Teen Health Class at 3:30 and a meditation class at 5pm today.
4. Mentor Program: Mountain Vista Mentoring after school at 3:30.

• Japanese American Citizens League - Deadline is April 1st.
11th and 12th graders: The Emma L. Bowen Foundation is offering a summer internship with CBS. Candidates must have a minimum cumulative
GPA of 3.0, be a U.S citizen or permanent resident, .and have their own transportation. For Complete details, see Mrs. Larin in the College and
Career Center during break or lunch as soon as possible.
9th, 10th, and 11th graders - If you are planning to take any math or English classes at Ventura College during the summer, you must take the
assessments. A representative from Ventura College will be here on Friday, April 17th to administer both the math and English assessments. If you
are interested in taking them, please see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center.
FRESHMEN:
1. If you’re interested in going to chalk the ‘F’ pick up a permission slip in the Student Store. Slip are due by April 17th. Turn them in to the
Freshmen advisor, Mr. Vincent in Rm. 47.
STUDENTS:
1. Spring Insight at UCSB is Saturday, 4/4/09. This Open House event showcases what UCSB has to offer to Fillmore High School students and
their families. See Mrs. Palacio in the College and Career Center for further details and to pick up a permission slip.
2. March 31st is the registration deadline for the May 2nd SAT reasoning and subject tests. You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com.
See your counselor for more information.
3. Last call for entries to the Arts Show : If you would like to enter art into the show please bring it to Room 34 by Tuesday March 31st. You do
not have to be in Art class to enter.
4. FASHION SHOW - the Fashion Club is hosting the 2009 FHS Fashion Show on Fri., April 3rd from 6:30 – 8:00 in the gym. Tickets are $3.
Proceeds will help fund a scholarship for a senior!
5. LETTERMAN’S JACKETS - Dagen Sales will be here on THURSDAY to take orders for Letterman’s Jackets. A $50.00 deposit is due at the
time the jacket is ordered. Also, those that previously ordered jackets should have received their balances due…….Your jackets will be
delivered on Thursday.
6. BASEBALL HATS - The Fillmore HS Baseball Program is taking orders for hats. The order will go out this morning. The cost per hat is $20.
See Lynn in the Student Store to place your order.
7. Attention Educational Talent Search (ETS) students-This is a reminder to please submit your fieldtrip applications to Mrs. Larin by Thursday,
April 2, 2009. The fieldtrip is taking place on Tuesday, April 7, 2009.
8. You and your parents are invited to attend the Renaissance Awards Night on April 1st, 6:30 p.m. at Fillmore Middle School.
Immediately following will be the Higher Ed College Fair in the gym. Don’t miss out getting college information from these
outstanding colleges. There will be colleges visiting that we don’t normally get the opportunity to hear from.
Wednesday is COLLEGE DRESS UP DAY! Wear shirts, socks, sweats, sweatshirts, etc. that have a college
name on it. Class points will be counted, so find you favorite college outfit!
