PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: May 26, 1868 - President Andrew Johnson avoided conviction for impeachment charges of "high crimes and
misdemeanors" by one vote.
LUNCH: Orange chicken, white rice & broccoli.
ATHLETICS:
1. Varsity Boys & Girls Volleyball players – You’re invited to play in the 2nd Annual Boys & Girls Volleyball Game on Wednesday, May 27th at
4:00 in the gym. ALL students & staff – You’re invited to come a watch the game!
2. ALL SPORTS TEAMS – team photos are ready for pickup at KSSP Studios.
CLUBS:
1. Art Club meeting TODAY at lunch. Bring your money and/or autograph books.
SENIORS:
1. There are a limited number of spots open for people to come in and work off some fines. You must arrange this with Ms Hoffman and be sincere
about helping out.
2. Deadlines for paper work is approaching - Mr. Wilber’s letter is due by May 29th (blue). Grad Nite Live, Disneyland & Church papers are
overdue! If you plan to go, please turn your papers in ASAP. After the boat trip you will be treated to breakfast at Carl’s Jr. – Croissant or
Sourdough combo or French Toast and milk, soda, juice or coffee.
3. On Friday, May 29th, you will come to the library with your English class to get your clearance card signed. No cards will be signed before Friday
but, if you clear in the library on or before 3:30 on Thursday, May 28th, you will be put on the “VIP List” so you can cut the line on
Friday and get your card immediately signed. (You don’t need your clearance card to be placed on the VIP list.)
SCHOLARSHIPS:
• The Mexican American Bar Association of Ventura County is offering a scholarship to individuals of Hispanic origin who have demonstrated a
commitment or desire to serve the community in a law capacity for social justice. Deadline is June 26th. See Mrs. Larin for an application.
STUDENTS:
1. Avoid the long lines during finals week and turn in the books you don’t need for finals now. There are NO lines before school, at lunch or after
school right now.
2. Art Club is selling autograph books for $5. See any art club member or come to room 34 to buy one.
3. Former Piru Students – Piru School needs volunteers for the 2009 Piru Dance Festival, Friday, May 29th. Volunteers are needed from 4 – 6
p.m. to set up, then from 7-9 p.m. to clean up. The Friends of Piru Support Group is offering community service credit. For further information
contact Mr. Pavik at 521-1709. See you there.
4. Ventura College – will have a Health and Wellness class at Fillmore in the fall on Wednesdays from 6-8:50 p.m. See you counselor if you are
interested in taking the course.
5. Grizzly Youth Academy Applicants: This is the LAST call for students with a low GPA (below 2.1) Honest! All spaces are almost taken and
then you won’t have a chance to apply until the January semester. That means your GPA and hopes to graduate with your class will be less.
See Ms. Norma at the latest this week for an application and get yourself back on track to graduate on time with your peers.
6. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR LOCKERS ARE CLEANED OUT BY THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL – PE and Hall Lockers. Anything left in the
lockers will be thrown away.
7. The BigSun Organization is offering a scholarship to young athletes regardless of the sport they are engaged in. Students must send a short
essay answering one of the following questions: 1) Have you ever struggled for something and succeeded? What made you feel that you were
successful? 2) Have you ever struggled for something and failed? How did you react to this? All essays submissions should be sent to:
athleticawards@bigsunathletics.com. Deadline is June 25th. For complete details, see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center.
STUDENTS/FACULTY/PARENTS:
1. There WILL NOT be a Collaboration Day on Wednesday, May 27th. School will start at 7:55
(tardy bell) on Wednesday.
2. The library will be CLOSED on Friday due to senior checkouts. It will not be open before school nor at lunch. It will only be open after school for
those seniors still trying to clear. It’s a very hectic day; thanks for your cooperation.
TEACHERS:
1. Please don’t allow students to leave class in order to go get all their books and turn them in. They will be sent back to class. You can sign up to
bring your class in or students can turn in their books before school, at lunch or after school.
San Cayetano would like to send a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to the Flashes Go Green Club for helping out with our Earth Day
Olympics. You all really made the event run smoothly. Your time and expertise was greatly appreciated. J
