PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: November 4, 1924 - Nellie T. Ross of Wyoming was elected the nation's first woman governor, to serve out the term of her husband who died in office.

LUNCH : Enchilada casserole, Spanish rice & salad.

ATHLETICS:
1. VOLLEYBALL - AWAY @ NORDHOFF. Frosh. Game begins at 4PM, JV at 5PM and Varsity at 6PM. Team is excused from class at 2PM, bus will depart FHS at 2:15PM.
2. JV FOOTBALL PLAYERS - Check out www.heatactionphotos.com for great pictures you can purchase online of the Fillmore-Santa Paula Game.
3. Baseball: Mandatory meeting at lunch this Wednesday, for all baseball players trying out or participating this school year.
4. WRESTLERS - Anyone interested in Wrestling, Coach Calderon would like to meet with you TODAY during lunch in the wrestling room.
5. SWIM TEAM: Important meeting on Thurs., Nov. 13 (date change) in rm. 49 at lunch. ALL students interested in participating on the swim team in the NEW POOL should attend. Pass the word!

CLUBS:
1. ART CLUB – meeting Tuesday at lunch in Rm. 34.
2. MECHA CLUB – urgent officers meeting after school TODAY. Regular club meeting Thursday at lunch for all members.
3. PRAYER CLUB meets Wednesday at lunch in Rm. 2. All are welcome.
4. ANIME CLUB – meeting on Thursday at lunch in Rm. 34.
5. CSF club: There will be a meeting on THURSDAY, this week at lunch in Ms Hoffman’s room #60. If you come after 12:25, you’ll miss the meeting so don’t go off campus for lunch. We will be tallying the ballots for our senior mock election.

Students and Teachers:
1. The CAHSEE Exit Exam will be given to Juniors and Seniors who have NOT passed one or both exam sections on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 4 and 5, 2008. Testing will begin at 8 a.m. until students are done. Students, make sure you are reviewing your math and English class notes, doing all your homework and asking your teacher(s) for help on areas you do not clearly understand. Testing rooms with student names will be posted on the Attendance Office windows next Monday afternoon. “Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation.”
SENIORS:
1. Class meeting on Wednesday during lunch in Rm. 65 to discuss Garden Market food sale, selling pies for Grad Nite Live & senior sweatshirts.
2. Message from Mrs. Chaney for Grad Nite Live: Seniors get busy. I'm hearing that some of the teachers and the classified personal haven't ordered pies or even been asked yet. The people at school are the easy ones. Remember Friday the 14th is the last day to sell. Turn your envelope with the money and order form in at the Student Store. Need help? Scholarships:
o General Motors is offering a scholarship to African American, Hispanic, Native Americans or Asian/Pacific Islander students planning to enroll full time in an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university. Students must also have a 3.0 GPA or higher, demonstrate both academic excellence as well as outstanding community service through activities, volunteerism and work experience, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. STUDENTS:
1. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION – Every Tuesday & Thursday from 3:15-4:15 in Rm. 49
2. The library is now open every Wednesday morning for study hall from 7:30 - 9:00 am. Staff will be in the library to assist with homework, research, etc. Please take advantage of this opportunity.
3. November 5th is the registration deadline for the December 6th SAT reasoning and subject tests. You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See your counselor for more information.
4. November 7th is the registration deadline for the December 13th ACT tests. You can register on-line at www.actstudent.org. See your counselor for more information.
5. Please consider the due date for Film Festival scripts. The due date is Dec. 1st. See Mr. Overton with any questions.
6. Students & Staff: Mecha invites you and your classes to visit Room 7 to view the Day of the Dead Altars. The room will be open for viewing all week. If you have any questions- contact Ms Juarez.
