PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: October 28, 1919 - Congress passed the Volstead Act, or the National Prohibition Act, over President Woodrow Wilson's veto.

LUNCH – Chili beans, cornbread muffin & coleslaw.

ATHLETICS:
1. GIRLS VOLLEYBALL – HOME w/SANTA PAULA. Frosh Match begins at 4PM, JV Match at 5PM and Varsity at 6PM.

3. WINTER SPORT ATHLETES - Dr. Bautista will be offering FREE Physicals on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29TH beginning at 3:30PM.
4. WINTER SPORTS CLEARENCE NIGHT – will be held WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29TH beginning at 6:30PM in the Gym. This is for Winter Athletes and their Parents.
5. BASEBALL - Any boys wishing to participate in JV / Varsity Baseball, please sign-up in the student store.
6. WRESTLERS - meet with Coach Calderon on Wednesday during lunch in the wrestling room.
7. Boys’ Basketball: Mandatory 5 minute meeting at the start of lunch on Tuesday, October 28th in room 50. Be prompt! Questions, see Coach Sebek in room 50.
8. FRIDAY FOOTBALL - NO COSTUMES for Middle School – adults will be allowed at the game. Wear your costume to school, but not the game!
9. BUY YOUR TICKETS EARLY – If you don’t have an ASB Sticker, Pre-Sale Tickets are available at the Student Store for this week’s game. Adults $7, Students & Children $4 and Seniors $3.
CLUBS:
1. FASHION CLUB – meets every Wednesday & Friday at lunch in Rm. 34.
2. UC Ambassador Club - There will be a meeting on Tuesday, October 28th at lunch in Room 61. We will be discussing next week’s “Higher Education Week” activities and an exciting opportunity to start earning community service hours.
3. MECHA CLUB – meeting at lunch on Tuesday to talk about field trip to Olvera St.
4. ART CLUB – Important meeting on Tuesday at lunch. All art club and art students attending the Olvera St. field trip must attend this meeting. Bring your signed permission slips.
5. PRAYER CLUB meets Wednesday at lunch in Rm. 2. All are welcome.
6. ANIME CLUB – meeting on Thursday at lunch in Rm. 34.
SENIORS:
1. CSUB is opening their campus to high school seniors on Thursday, October 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For complete details see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center or call 661-654-3138.
STUDENTS:
1. The library is now open every Wednesday morning for study hall from 7:30 - 9:00 am. Staff will be in the library to assist with homework, research, etc. Please take advantage of this opportunity.
2. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION – Every Tuesday & Thursday from 3:15-4:15 in Rm. 49. If you have not served your detentions, you will not be allowed to attend the Santa Paula football rally or game. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are not on a detention list.
3. November 5th is the registration deadline for the December 6th SAT reasoning and subject tests. You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See your counselor for more information.
4. November 7th is the registration deadline for the December 13th ACT tests. You can register on-line at www.actstudent.org. See your counselor for more information.
5. IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO HELP! San Cayetano School is looking for High School student Volunteers for their Fall Carnival. The Carnival is Thursday October 30th from 3:00 (set up) to 8:00. If any student would like to volunteer their time, call Martha Hope at 524-8142 during school hours.
6. Attention Fillmore and Piru Boys! There will be an open house at the Boy Scout House at the east end of Main Street from 6 to 7 PM on Tuesday, October 28. See pictures of our recent camping trip to Wishon Valley in the Sierras. Learn about Winter Camp, backpacking, this year's new summer camp location, and various one day trips, projects, games and races the scouts participate in. Refreshments will be served. 7. CLASS RINGS - Jostens will be here to deliver class rings on Friday, October 31st during break and at lunch to the students who bought them at the end of August.
8. Child Development Students – Don’t forget to turn in your permission slips.
9. One Step- Lunch meeting on Wednesday, 10/29 in Rm. 10. Bring your lunch and see you there! All students are welcomed.
10. All students-Paradox Community Technologies is offering free Microsoft Word Training classes, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the One Step Center (600 Saratoga Ave.) Sign ups in Room 10.
11. Students: It is very important that you understand that the Fillmore Unified School District is committed to eliminating sexual harassment or sexual battery of any student by an employee, student, or other person, from all schools and facilities within the district. Sexual harassment or battery is improper, immoral, illegal, and will not be tolerated within the district. This policy is implemented to inform both students and personnel as to what sexual harassment/battery is and what procedures are to be followed in dealing with sexual harassment/battery within the district.
