PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: October 7, 1765 - The Stamp Act Congress convened in New York to draw up colonial grievances against England.

ATHLETICS:
1. VOLLEYBALL - HOME w/Santa Clara. Frosh game begins at 4PM, JV game begins at 5PM and Varsity at 6PM.
2. GIRLS GOLF - HOME w/La Reina. Match begins at 3:00PM. Golf Team is excused from class at 2PM.
3. Girls Soccer - Tryouts for all levels of girls soccer will be from Oct. 8 – 24, Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays only. Any girl interested in playing must attend at the JV Baseball field at 3:30. Contact coach Johnny Vaca at 298-0403 for more info.
CLUBS:
1. Mentor Program: Cal Arts & Magic permission slips due by Oct. 10th. Turn in $ with permission slip Rm 10.
2. ART CLUB – meeting Tuesday at lunch in Rm. 34.
3. PRAYER CLUB meets Wednesday at lunch in Rm. 2. All are welcome.
4. ANIME CLUB – meeting on Thursday at lunch in Rm. 34.
5. Cycling Club: Congratulations to Alondra Gaytan, sophomore and Julio Negrete, freshman for finishing the Harvest Literacy Ride Century (100 mile bicycle ride) this past Saturday. Over 200 registered riders only 28 completed the century -Great Job!
6. Cycling Club: Meeting at lunch Rm. 46 bring your lunch.

SENIORS:
1. CSUCI will be hosting a “High School Senior Day” on Saturday, October 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You must R.S.V.P. at http://go.csuci.edu/hssday. For complete details, go to the website or see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center.
2. Senior Ball tickets will be on sell this week in the Student Store during lunch. $40 a couple and $20 single. Senior Ball will be held on Oct. 25th and the theme is “All that Jazz”

JUNIORS & SOPHOMORES:
1. The PSAT Tickets are now for sale in the Student Store. They cost $13.00. The test will be on Saturday, October 18th at 8:30 in Room 49.

STUDENTS:
1. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION – Every Tuesday & Thursday from 3:15-4:15 in Rm. 49
2. Paradox Community Technologies is offering FREE Microsoft WORD training. There is only ten seats available. Hurry, they fill fast. We are at the One Step Center. Sign up in Rm. 10.
3. Are you in need of Credit Recovery? Saturday school will be available for Migrant students wishing to take a course through the PASS program to get ahead on credits; keep up with credits or recover credits. All courses are A through G approved. Classes start Saturday, Oct.11th at Fillmore Middle School Media Center (computer lab) with Mrs. Gradias from 9:00 to 12:00. You must fill out a PASS contract with Mrs. Ibarra or your counselor in the office. If you have any questions please speak to Mrs. Ibarra or you may call the Migrant Office at 524-8038.
4. If you are interested in being a referee for Youth Basketball sign-up at City Hall, Monday – Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. For additional information call 524-1500 X216. Season starts December 6, 2008 – February 28, 2009. Saturdays only, at the Fillmore Middle School (8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.) or the Boys and Girls (8:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.)
5. There will be a presentation about the University of Southern California in the College and Career Center (Room 9) at lunch on Tuesday, October 7th. Ms. Gomez just returned from a conference at USC and wants to share the information. The 1st application deadline is October 15th.

STUDENTS & STAFF:
1. The Health Office will be closed on Tues. 10/7 from 9am to 11 am.
2. This Wednesday, October 8th will be WALK TO WORK/SCHOOL DAY. The district is asking all staff and students that live close by to walk to work.
3. This week is QUARTER FINALS – Regular schedule (6 periods)
TODAY - Oct. 7 – English & Foreign Language;
Wed., Oct. 8 – Science and Math;
(Wednesday, Oct. 8th WILL NOT be a Collaborative Day.
School starts at 7:55)
Thurs., Oct. 9th – All others.
Monday – Thursday will be REGULAR SCHEDULE
Friday, Oct. 10th will be a MINIMUM DAY (all 6 periods).
