PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: September 9, 1850 - California became the 31st state.

ATHLETICS:
1. ATHLETES: Remember you are not allowed to participate in any FALL SPORT until you have been CLEARED and your PARTICIPATION FEES have been paid.
2. GIRLS GOLF - HOME w/Nordhoff. Tee-Off Time begins at 3PM. Girls Golf Team is excused from class at 1:50PM.
CLUBS:
1. Relay for Life – any student in INTERACT CLUB wanting to participate in the Fillmore-Piru Relay For Life on Sept. 13 and 14, there is a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 9th in the Health Office during lunch.
2. AVID CLUB: Meets Tuesdays at Lunch in Rm. 59. We will be discussing upcoming field trips and fundraising.
3. ART CLUB – meeting Tuesday at lunch in Rm. 34
4. UC Ambassador Club: Officers meeting Wednesday, September 10th at lunch in Room 61. See you then! Mrs. Palacio and Ms. Moriarty
5. PRAYER CLUB meets tomorrow at lunch in Rm. 2. All are welcome.
6. ANIME CLUB – it’s not too late to join. Meetings every Thursday at lunch in Rm. 34. Bring your lunch and ideas.
STUDENTS:
1. Administrative detention – Every Tuesday & Thursday – in Rm. 49 at 3:15. Students that have outstanding DETENTIONS will not be allowed to attend the football game on Friday, September 12th. Please be responsible and serve your detentions. 214 students were denied entrance to the football game last Friday because of unserved detentions. That’s 20% of our enrollment! The majority of these detentions were for TARDIES. Just a reminder – the Homecoming Dance is coming up on September 27th. You must make up all detentions to be allowed to go to the dance.
2. September 9th is the registration deadline for the October 4th SAT reasoning and subject tests. You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See your counselor for more information.
3. September 19th is the registration deadline for the October 25th ACT test. You can register on-line at www.actstudent.org. See your counselor for more information.
4. ANY MIGRANT STUDENT WHO IS INTERESTED IN RECOVERING CREDITS THROUGH THE P.A.S.S. PROGRAM, PLEASE SEE YOUR COUNSELOR OR MRS. IBARRA IN THE OFFICE. CLASS WILL BE SATURDAY'S FROM 9A-1P IN MR. ANDERSEN'S RM. 62.
5. MAKE-UP PICTURES - The photographer will be here Wednesday, September 10th from 7:30AM until 11:AM for Picture Make-Ups and Retakes. Picture Packets will be available in the Student Store. Don’t forget that it will be a Collaboration Day, so if you did not get your picture taken at registration, please report to the Student Store BEFORE school.
6. Tickets for the Homecoming Dance will go on sale Sept. 17th! Be the first one in line! The dance will be on Saturday, Sept. 27th from 8 p.m. – midnight. This year it will be semi-formal, so get dress up! Tickets wil be $3.00 with an ASB sticker or $5.00 without.
7. AFTERSCHOOL HOMEWORK CENTERS AVAILABLE AT: MT. VISTA SCHOOL, BUILDING C; RANCHO SESPE, CESAR CHAVEZ MEMORIAL HALL; PIRU, COLINA VISTA APARTMENTS ACTIVITY HALL. COMPUTERS AND INTERNET ARE AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS.
8. All 2008 Summer Academy students - please see Mrs. Palacio TODAY during lunch.
STUDENTS & STAFF:
1. Calling all clubs, students and staff: If you would like to participate in the Homecoming Parade on September 26th or have any ideas for entrees, contact ASB as soon as possible.
2. Student Store will be closed this morning. Lynn will be at a League Athletic meeting.
STAFF:
1. STAFF ID’s -This year Mr. Wilber has asked that all FHS Staff have ID’s. Please make time on September 10th between 7:30AM – 11AM to stop-by the Student Store to have your ID Pictures taken.
2. Our custodians are asking for you to please have students pick up trash on the floors before they leave, refrain from putting liquids in trash cans, and for you to make every effort to keep students from chewing gum. Thanks.
