PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: April 22, 1970 - The first Earth Day was observed.

ATHLETICS:
1. SWIMMING - HOME w/ Villanova. Meet begins at 3:00PM. Swimmers are excused from class at
1:50PM.
2. JV BASEBALL - HOME w/ Malibu. Game begins at 3:30PM. JV BASEBALL is excused from
class at 2PM.
3. VARSITY BASEBALL - AWAY @ Malibu. Game begins at 3:30PM. VARSITY TEAM ONLY is
excused from class at 12:45PM and will depart FHS at 1:00PM.
4. VOLLEYBALL - AWAY @ Cate. Match begins at 4:30PM. Volleyball is excused from class at
2:00PM and will depart FHS at 2:30PM.
5. PATCHES - Athletes, Lynn will be placing one last “Patch Order” before school ends. All orders
must be received TODAY!! If there is a patch that you would like to order, please see Lynn in the
Student Store.
CLUBS:
1. Flashes Go Green Club – lunch meeting in Rm. 23 on Thursday, 4/23. Please bring your proposals.
2. One Step Board Meeting today at lunch in room 17. If you are interested in becoming apart of the
group for next year please attend.
SENIORS:
1. Ventura College Assessments - April 29th at 7:55 a.m. See Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center.
2. A representative from CSUCI will be in the College and Career Center on Thursday, April 23rd during 4th period and lunch to meet with students
who are planning to attend CSUCI in the fall. You must have a note from your 4th period teacher in order to attend.
3. A Moorpark College representative will be in the College and Career Center on Friday, April 24th during lunch to speak to students who are
attending Moorpark during the summer or fall semester.
SCHOLARSHIPS: A list of ALL scholarships is available in the COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER
• The Fillmore Lions Club is offering a scholarship to students who live within the Fillmore Unified School District boundaries or attend school
full time in Fillmore and are planning to continue their education. Deadline is May 1st. See Mrs. Larin for an application.
SOPHOMORES:
1. If you are interested in learning about the High School at Moorpark College, please see Mrs. Ashim.
STUDENTS:
1. May 5th is the registration deadline for the June 6th SAT reasoning and subject tests. You
can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See your counselor for more information.
2. FOUND – MP3 player found outside of Memorial Building at Art Show. Identify and claim from
Mrs. Lemons in the office.
3. Miss Fillmore/Miss Teen Fillmore Pageant. Saturday, April 25th @ 6:30PM. For tickets please
see Lynn in the Student Store. Limited number of tickets available. Ticket Cost: $15.00
4. Grizzly Youth Academy: Students, if you want to sign up for Grizzly: Time is running out, but
most importantly the students spots are running out! See Ms. Norma ASAP!
5. PROM TICKETS – tickets will go on sale Wednesday, April 22nd. Couple tickets are $80 and
singles are $45. Prices will increase the following week.
6. You may not attend Prom if you have outstanding Saturday School assignments or
detentions. See your Assistant Principal for more information.
7. If you have AR books that are long over due, please return them ASAP. If you have textbooks
that you are no longer using, please return them.
8. You are invited to attend Moorpark High School’s College Fair on Thursday, April 23rd from 7:00
p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the New MHS Gym. The event is free and open to all students from any
school district. For complete details, see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center.
9. AP TESTS – If you plan to take an AP test, don’t forget that the MONEY IS DUE BY MAY 1ST!
Please don’t spring this information on your parents the last day!!!!!

Students who earned a 3.0 and above or has a .5 improvement in their GPA (on the SEMESTER
GRADE-December) is eligible for a t-shirt. Please pick it up in the Student Store during break or
at lunch (12:30 – 12:50) TODAY.
STAR TEST Info:
STAR format: How are the questions on the STAR tests asked? All of the test questions in the STAR testing program are in a multiple-choice
format. There is no writing requirement for grade levels 9-11. The multiple-choice questions require students to select the correct answer from four
or five possible answers. You need to answer all questions because any blank answer will be counted wrong. (On some national tests, such as the
PSAT and SAT for college admission, it is best to leave a question unanswered if unknown).
STAR TEST DAYS Tuesday, April 28 – Friday, May 1 – Minimum Days – School dismissed at 12:10. ALL students need to report at 7:55.
