PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: October 1, 1908 - Henry Ford introduced the first mass-produced automobile on the market—the Model T car to the market. Each car cost $825.

CLUBS:
1. FASHION CLUB – meets Wednesdays & Fridays at lunch in the Art room! Everyone is welcome/
2. PRAYER CLUB meets Wednesday at lunch in Rm. 2. All are welcome.
3. Mentors – male mentor lunch meeting Wednesday. Pick up by parking lot gate.
4. Mentors – middle school mentors – don’t forget to turn in all paperwork. You will not be able to mentor until it is turned in.
5. ANIME CLUB - Are you free at lunch on Thursdays? Join the Anime Club in Rm. 34.
6. MECHA CLUB – meeting Thursday at lunch in Rm. 45.
7. POETRY CLUB – meets every Friday at lunch in Mr. Overton’s room (drama room). Pleases come and bring poetry/lyrics you have written or enjoyed.

JUNIORS & SOPHOMORES:
1. The PSAT Tickets are now for sale in the Student Store. They cost $13.00. The test will be on Saturday, October 18th at 8:30 in Room 49.

STUDENTS:
1. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION – Every Tuesday & Thursday from 3:15-4:15 in Rm. 49
2. ID CARDS ARE HERE – If you had your ID picture taken on Picture Make-up day, you can pick it up in the Student Store.
3. College is possible!! The largest national organization supporting Hispanic higher education is coming to Santa Paula High School. October 1, 2008 @ 6:00-8:00 at Santa Paula High School Auditorium. Hispanic Scholarship Fund invites you to attend its 1st college conference in the county. Presentation will be given in Spanish and English on: College Admissions, Financial Aid, and Scholarship Opportunities. Light Dinner will be served for families that pre-register, Raffle, and College Fair. Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. Please RSVP in room 10.
4. Oxnard Union High School is hosting a “College Night” at Oxnard College’s Gymnasium on Thursday, October 2nd from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Workshops will be available in English and Spanish. For complete details, see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center during break or lunch.
5. Massachusetts Institute of Technology will be hosting an information session for prospective students and their families on Thursday, October 2nd at the First United Methodist Church of Santa Monica at 7:30 p.m. For complete details see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center during break or lunch.
6. The National Association for College Admission Counseling is hosting a Performing & Visual Arts College Fair this Saturday, October 4th at UCLA from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. For complete details, see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center during break or lunch.
7. One step- Lunch meeting on 10/1/08 in Rm. 10. All students welcomed.
8. One Step Teen Wellness Drop in Center is now open. Located at 600 Saratoga St. (2nd and Saratoga) We offer yoga classes, nutrition classes, computers, and homework help. Come and join us!! We're open 3-7 pm Monday-Thursday.
STUDENTS & STAFF:
1. Next Wednesday, October 8th will be WALK TO WORK/SCHOOL DAY. The district is asking all staff and students that live close by to walk to work.
2. Next week is QUARTER FINALS – Tues., Oct. 7 – English & Foreign Language; Wed., Oct. 8 – Science and Math; Thurs., Oct. 9th – All others. Monday – Thursday will be REGULAR SCHEDULE (Wednesday, Oct. 8th WILL NOT be a collaborative day, school starts at 7:55). Friday, Oct. 10th will be a MINIMUM DAY (all 6 periods).
STAFF:
1. CELDT testing will take place on Thursday, October 2nd. A list of students that need to be tested will be placed in teacher’s boxes. Please send students to the classroom indicated on your list after roll is taken 1st period.
