PATRIOTIC OBSERVANCE: October 30, 1938 - Radio broadcast of The War of the Worlds, starring Orson Welles, caused nationwide panic among listeners.

ATHLETICS:
1. BASEBALL - Any boys wishing to participate in JV / Varsity Baseball, please sign-up in the student store.
2. FRIDAY FOOTBALL - NO COSTUMES for Middle School – adults will be allowed at the game. Wear your costume to school, but not the game!
3. BUY YOUR TICKETS EARLY – If you don’t have an ASB Sticker, Pre-Sale Tickets are available at the Student Store for this week’s game. Adults $7, Students & Children $4 and Seniors $3.
4. Open gym for boys’ basketball after school today from 3:15-4:30. Must have current physical to participate. Questions, see Coach Sebek in room 50.

CLUBS:
1. FASHION CLUB – meets every Wednesday & Friday at lunch in Rm. 34.
2. ANIME CLUB – meeting on Thursday at lunch in Rm. 34.
3. Hiking club/ AVID Club: Meet on Thurs. at lunch to discuss upcoming fundraising events. See you there.
4. Mentor Program:Bigs interested in mentoring after school at the middle school -sign up today during lunch at Rm 10.
Mentor Program: Sports Mentors today at lunch -meet at gate near B&G Club.

SENIORS:
1. UNOS College Presentation – Thursday during 3rd & 4th periods. Report to 3rd period class to receive instructions. Role will be taken in the gym.
2. CSUB is opening their campus to high school seniors on Thursday, October 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For complete details see Mrs. Larin in the College and Career Center or call 661-654-3138.
3. Submit designs for Senior Sweatshirt to Rm. 65 by Friday 11/7.
4. There will be a UC Berkeley Admissions event on Saturday, November 1st, from 2 – 4 p.m. at Pacifica High School in the Performing Arts Center. If you’re interested, sign up in the College and Career Center.

Students and Teachers:
1. The CAHSEE Exit Exam will be given to Juniors and Seniors who have NOT passed one or both exam sections next week on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 4 and 5, 2008. Testing will begin at 8 a.m. until students are done. Students, make sure you are reviewing your math and English class notes, doing all your homework and asking your teacher(s) for help on areas you do not clearly understand. Testing rooms with student names will be posted on the Attendance Office windows next Monday afternoon. “Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation.”

STUDENTS:
1. ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION – Every Tuesday & Thursday from 3:15-4:15 in Rm. 49. If you have not served your detentions, you will not be allowed to attend the Santa Paula football rally or game. It is your responsibility to make sure that you are not on a detention list.
2. November 5th is the registration deadline for the December 6th SAT reasoning and subject tests. You can register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. See your counselor for more information.
3. November 7th is the registration deadline for the December 13th ACT tests. You can register on-line at www.actstudent.org. See your counselor for more information.
4. IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO HELP! San Cayetano School is looking for High School student Volunteers for their Fall Carnival. The Carnival is Thursday October 30th from 3:00 (set up) to 8:00. If any student would like to volunteer their time, call Martha Hope at 524-8142 during school hours.
5. CLASS RINGS - Jostens will be here to deliver class rings on Friday, October 31st during break and at lunch to the students who bought them at the end of August.
6. GRIZZLY YOUTH ACADEMY: Students who are SERIOUSLY interested in attending Grizzly Youth Academy and making a positive change in their lives, please come by for an application with Ms. Norma, Attendance Office, as soon as possible. Spaces start filling up quickly. Please have your parents call me at 524-6114, if they have any questions. Grizzly’s website at www.ngycp.org/ca. Ms. Norma can check your application for you. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

REGULAR RALLY SCHEDULE ON FRIDAY – Food Day on Friday: Burritos, pizza, ghost suckers in popcorn hands, hot cheetos w/cheese and nachos, brownie, sundaes, liquid rush, Jamba Juice, lemonade and horchata.
