(above) Mya Cantero, Miss Fillmore Contestant. The Miss Fillmore Pageant will host the 71st annual pageant this weekend on Saturday, October 26th. Doors open at 6:00pm, with the pageant starting promptly at 6:30pm. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. This year brings on a few changes to the pageant, most noticeably the pageant is in October, instead of the spring time. Another new change this year, our Miss Contestants will compete in active wear and forgo swimwear. This brings the pageant in-line with what other organizations are doing. The Miss Fillmore Pageant committee is looking to focus on inner beauty rather than outer beauty and change the name of a “beauty” pageant. This year we have 10 Miss Contestants vying for the crown of Miss Fillmore, and 5 teen contestants varying for the crown of Miss Teen Fillmore. The newly crowned queens and her court will represent Fillmore throughout the year at community events such as the upcoming Trunk or Treat, Dia de los Muertos, numerous parades and community mixers.
