Homeless Encampment Fire Closes Bridge

On Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 8:81pm, Fillmore City Fire Department and Ventura County Fire Department were dispatched to a reported brushfire under the A Street bridge / Chambersburg Road, just north of Fillmore city limits. Arriving firefighters found a fire burning underneath the bridge, and a 35-foot ladder was lowered to make access. They reported that a homeless encampment was burning an area of about 50 feet by 50 feet. Firefighters launched their attack plan and requested Fillmore Patrol Services for a hard road closure of the bridge.
