Monday, at approximately 5 p.m. an eastbound18-wheel tractor-trailer struck and severed a power pole and fire hydrant on Ventura Street near Mountain View Street. A geyser nearing 100 feet high resulted in substantial flooding. Eastbound traffic was restricted to a single lane for more than an hour. The exact cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
