Sprint Thunderclasts Break 30-Year-Old Record

On Friday and Saturday, March 28th and 29th a select group of track athletes traveled over the hill to compete in the Simi
Valley Invitational.

In the Rated high jump, Yaneli Landin claimed third place with a jump of 4’ 04”. In the Rated long jump Janessa Corona also
took third place with a leap of 15’ 2.75”. In the Seeded triple jump, Sarah Cedillos lept 30’ 8.00”. In the Rated boys long
jump Josiah Cruz finished 3rd with a jump of 19’ 00.50”. In the Rated boys triple jump, Jasiah Patterson was 8th reaching a
distance of 35’ 05,50”. In the Seeded boys triple jump, Mauricio Ocegueda was Fillmore’s top performer, leaping 36’ 7.25”.
Teammate Saul Fraga-Sandoval also jumped we’ll recording a leap of 36’ 2.75”.

In the Rated girls shot put, Adrianna Deleon was 2nd in 29’ 10”. Teammate Hermelinda Ocegueda was 4th in 28’ 00”, and Lucy
Murrillo was 7th in 26’ 06.50. In the Rated girls discus Hermelinda Ocegueda was 12th with a throw of 75’ 01”. Teammate
Andrea Ramirez was 24th with a toss of 59’ 09”. In the Seeded girls discus, Aerin Garcia tossed the implement 79’ 11”. In
the Rated boys discus Isaiah Meza was second with a personal best throw of 110’ 01”. Isaac Rivera threw the discus 112’ 05”
in the Seeded boys division.

In the Rated girls 100 meter hurdles, Emelie Magana ran a 19.41. Yaneli Landin ran a 52.27 in the Rated girls 300 meter
hurdles. In the Rated girls 100 meter race, Kimberly Magana led the Flashes with a mark of 12.55. Karinna Magana followed
in 13.15, Janessa Corona 13.18, and Mia Munoz in 13.55. In the Rated 400 meter run, Leah Barragan set a personal best time
of 63.06. Freshman Nathan Hernandez ran a personal best 400 meters in 53.52.

One of the most exciting results of this meet was the Fillmore Girls 4 X 100 meter relay team taking down the 30 year old
Fillmore High School record of 50.59, set in 1995 by the team of speedsters: Priscilla Villareal, Ericka Arana, Ana Baro,
and Melissa Arroyo. Fillmore current record setters, composed predominantly by underclassmen ran a 50.50 and captured 1st
place in the Rated 4 X 100 meter relay. Team members are Mia Munoz, Karinna Magana, Janessa Corona, and Kimberly Magana.
